He's helped produce arguably the most staggering statistic in college football this season: LSU's opponents have totaled a mere seven return yards on his 39 punts. In other words, against LSU, teams can expect to gain about six inches each time Wing boots a punt.
unbelievable...

Awesome article

Twice now WSJ has writen a human-interest story about one of our players.

It's good to be the King.

McGaughey said it takes "millions of reps" to manipulate the ball with such expertise. Which Wing has: He's been punting since age 5. He spent countless hours with his younger brother, Thomas, booting an Australian football—a wider, rounder cousin of the American football—between a pair of lampposts in their Melbourne neighborhood. "We'd be out there all day and all night," Wing said.

So when can Les start offering his younger brother?

Why is it so difficult to score against LSU?  Teams have to go a long way to score. Against LSU this season, opponents? average drives start at their own 26-yard line, second-best in FBS. Tigers opponents have had 34 drives start inside of their own 20 this season

This ESPN post does not mention Wing; however, punting is a big part of this stat. LSU has many great players; but if we test them in a "but for" manner, Wing is in the top echelon.

very doubtful, I have some aussie friends and they have nothing there that compares to big time college football.

I don't know if you've ever watched Aussie football, but if you get the opportunity, give it a try.

it's pretty awesome. Might just be my second favorite sport.

good article, the fewest TD's in the 4th quarter stat is deceptive, i can't recall LSU being down in the 4th at all this year

Terrific article !! Thanks for the link. Brad Wing is quite an exceptional weapon and I too am glad that his parent's friends lived in Baton Rouge and not Tuscaloosa.

what i don't understand is the value of having wing punt with his right foot to throw the oregon coaching staff off. what difference does it make, to an opposing coach, what foot the punter uses? i guess i'm dumb here, but it sounds like unnecessary fakery stuff.

The spin of the ball can make it very difficult to catch. You hear receivers talk about it with left handed qbs.

How many LSU women will be conquered by the Wing boys before their collective eligibility is through?

that video PROVES the football did NOT hit a fricking wire in the bama game

Kenny Guillot, who coached Wing for one season at Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, recalled how Wing once plopped a punt in a small puddle 45 yards downfield. "It wasn't luck," Guillot said.

Great article.
I wonder how long the line will be at fan day next year for Brad Wing?
