I worked for the Athletic Department (Concessions) my junior and senior years of high school. Me and a guy that went to Catholic High of Pointe Coupee were the two baseball players, so we got to work all the basbeball games. It was a great job, I was able to go pretty much anywhere on the campus that had sporting events or even rodeos at the Ag center. And since the local high schools and church groups worked the actual stands we just had to run into Tiger Stadium and get anything they ran out of. For football games I worked all the outside stands, so by the end of half-time my job was over and I got to go into the stadium and watch the second half of every game until it was over. Best memory was when LSU beat Florida with Kevin Faulk running all over them. I used to go sit in the press box at the old Box. Which was really cool since growing up as a kid I used to go to all the baseball camps at the Box. They definitely need to do some sort of memorial. I live an hour and a half south of Atlanta now and everytime I go to a Braves game, I am reminded of how cool the parking lot looks where Atlanta Fulton County Stadium used to sit.

I was in the stands for that wkend, the first time it happened. Gibbs's face got redder & redder with each step he took. Just as Cannon scored, the whole left field bleachers screamed out" He SCORES." The crowd had gotten real quiet, so the recording could be heard clearly. My highschool basketball coach, JV, was the last Reb who wiffed on Cannon, and he said that Gibbs had nightmares for yrs later. So, the fans were just pouring gas onto the fires with that recording.

Great article! I remember that Florida game well. I had my 8 year old son with me and he complained about how cold he was. I told him we were all cold. When we got home we found out he had a fever of 104 degrees. Needless to say, I didn't win the father of the year award.
