Meh. You don't run this any better than Oregon did or any other spread team.

The difference is we have a defense (unlike most spread teams). FWIW, we are FAR from a spread team. We are a run first, control the clock and play defense team.

Lattimore is a beast, but I have a lingering suspicion that So. Car is a bit over rated on Offense.. Before you start flaming, hear me out...

So. Car is ranked #47 in Rush Offense and #71 in Pass Offense. Both are serviceable numbers when combined with their incredible defense and special teams, but they haven't faced anything like what they are about to go up against in LSU.

So. Car has only played two rushing defenses in the top 50 all year and when they did, their averages dropped back to near human levels:

East Carolina (#48 Rush Def) 34 Rushes 131 Yards 3.9 Avg 1 Fumble Lost

Missouri (#19 Rush Def) 39 Rushes 144 Yards 3.7 Avg 2 Fumbles Lost

LSU is ranked #3 in Total Defense and #14 in Rush Def. LSU is also #2 in Pass Defense and #2 in Pass Efficiency Defense.

My favorite stat going into this weekend is that LSU is averaging an interception every 17.7 passes.

Keep your heads up guys. We have an incredible D! As long as we don't force them to withstand 70 plays this week, they will definitely keep us in this one.

WTF does your defense have to do with how our defense defends your offense? I'm saying that y'all have run the ball a lot out of the shotgun with Shaw and Lattimore. Chavis knows how to defend that. You, much like LSU, will have to throw the ball to win if our offense can just convert some drives. If they don't y'all will be able to do whatever you want by the 4th quarter.

Very true statement and what worries me most about this game. For all their hubris, UGA's defense isn't that great.

Watching tape on LSU, you're D-line in lockdown vs the inside run. However, the weak spot for the tigers is stopping the run to the outside. This was seen with Gillislee last week vs Fla and to a lesser extent vs Albarn. The reason I posted the stuff I did about CS, is that he's very quick to the outside. I don't think he pops a long one a la Missou, but he eats up defenses on 3,4,5 yard gains. He gets just enough to move the sticks. But he does it consistently. It's a bit deceptive as it doesn't clearly define itself in the stats, but it's how Spurrier runs his offense these days.

That's why I'm holding out hope. So. Car only put up 392 total yards against Georgia. And Georgia has the #51 Defense. #68 against the run.

Go back and look at the box score from that game. Spurrier let off the gas and went vanilla after the 1st quarter. We only threw 3 passes the rest of the game. We were playing to kill the clock.

I admit, I didn't watch much after the 2nd. And congrats. Hell of a win either way.

I guess I'm just trying to point out that LSU will be a different test for So Car this weekend, and I fully expect for LSU's defense to have them within striking distance in the 4th

Or else I wouldn't be heading down there!

Should be a great game

I agree. I've said all year this is our toughest test of the season.

And I'll be honest, this isn't a "must" game for us. We can lose, and still control our own destiny in the east. Our MUST WIN game is next week in the swamp. Lose that one and the path to Atl gets complicated.

Lattimore is a better back. MG23 gets to the outside better though and when a defense is worn down, it spells trouble, hence MG23s 100+ second half yards.

I think LSU will contain Latt for 2 maybe 3 quarters. If their offense is able to sustain just a few drives and keep that defense rested, they will will roll into the 4th quarter and win the game. The defense is not the question, they are obviously talented and able to stop anyone. They just have to stay off the field.

I think USCs front seven is better than UFs and will give you guys a lot of trouble. You will not be able to pound the ball down this defenses throat and the game relies so heavily on whether Mett can make some throws. If he does that, LSU wins. If he looks anything like he did Saturday...

LSU - 10

??

Mett can make the throws and he did on Saturday.

It depends on whether or not the WRs can catch the football and then not fumble it.

Hope you guys are able to knock off LSU and set up a top 5 showdown at The Swamp!

Great win over the puppies too. I live in ATL so it was wonderful seeing all the red and black walk around with lemon faces this week....

We were just wore out & down 2 LBs. The key to this game will be whether our offense can sustain drives & keep our D fresh.

We need to hit Shaw in the mouth hard and early. Make him think twice about running the ball.

I know the coaches are watching the Vandy film as well.

Watch the 4th quarter of that game.

Vandy vs USC 2012 4th Quarter.

Remember Shaw was (and still is really) playing with a chipped shoulder blade at the time. Shaw will sacrifice his body for the win...

Two plays from that game stand out in my mind...

Play #1

Run #2.
