Is Gibbs overrated defensively?
He's thrown out just 12 of 56 runners trying to steal. Runners are successful on 79 percent of steal attempts against LSU.

that can just as easily be attributed to pitchers not holding runners on

matt liuzza had the same "problem", and was prob the best throwing catcher at LSU in the decade

if I'm not mistake, Gibbs threw out an insanely high percentage last year, maybe even at 56% at one point late in the season

LSU's pitchers are terrible at holding runners on this year, although I have seen a couple of times that Gibbs had a shot to get them and his throw was off line.

Bases are generally stolen on the pitcher. Not on the catcher.

Gibbs is considered one of the best defensive catchers out there right now.

It's a staff issue...I don't think we teach pickoff moves.

It's not necessarily he's bad at holding runners on, his delivery could be timed with a sundial.

The percentage should be around 40%. But that's not entirely on the catcher, as many have said.

as much as ar stock has dropped - gibbs has gone up - last night they shifted to play him pulling when batting left side and he hits the pitches where they throw them
ar had no idea where the runners were-and he did not control his pitches
