Swings looked better, better discipline, looked much better. Glad he got thru to them.

You don't think the batters looked more disciplined last night? Our hitters only struck out 3 times last night compared to aTm batters striking out 9 times in the game.

Or, are you just questioning the small sample size from one game?

Small sample size
I saw diechmann watch Kramer walk on four straight pitches early in the game, then come out and swing at the first pitch he saw which wasn't a strike

That's valid.

I remember that, too, but I thought the pitch looked like a strike from my seat.

Still, after walking the previous batter on 4 pitches, you'd think Deichmann would take at least one strike.

However, I really don't put that swing by Deichmann on Gibbs. I'm pretty sure Deichmann has the green light on any pitch in any situation if he feels like it's a pitch he can drive.

This thread wont get much attention, its alot more fun to bash the team and coaches than to give them a little bit of praise

No, we want our one power threat to take a bb

Gibbs got on em

Small sample size, shite. We ask for coaches to be fired after one play

It may have been a strike, but you don't swing at a first pitch just because it's a strike.
Deichman can hit in any count and Kramer walked on four straight balls. At least let one pitch go by. If the pitcher misses with the first pitch to Deichman after a four pitch walk before, he can set himself up for a potentially very good pitch.

I do believe all at bats are different and sometimes first pitch swinging is the right call. That was not an example of this.

People give way too much credit or crap to hitting coaches.

Nah, the priest Moscona had on the show to pray to God to help LSU hitters succeed is what made the difference.

This is the rant man...a few slumping bats against an ace on Friday and our hitting coach needs to be put out in the pasture and burned. If they hit the next few games, they don't want to hear that shite....he had one bad game.

LSU was the second best hitting team just a few weeks ago. I'm sure those numbers tells off a tad, but I bet they are still in the top half of the SEC.

You can't bring facts here though

You are wrong.

Deichman is our best power hitter, batting in the clean up spot. The first pitch is usually the best pitch a batter will see. When Lange gets hit it's almost always on the first pitch (when they sit fastball and smash it) or when he falls way behind.

Take a first pitch fastball from a good pitcher, and you are digging yourself into a hole that's not easy to get out of.

Do you wanna stand up there down 0-1 to Lange and try to guess if a fastball or curve ball is coming?
