Game #1 vs. BYU - What do you expect from the new offense?

I'm more excited for the start of this football season since 2011.
I like everything I've read and heard about Matt Canada, but with it now being game week, what do you honestly expect out of the offense vs. BYU?
I expect Guice to get the bulk of carries
B/c of attrition, we'll have some younger guys playing the OL.
I expect to see the pre-snap motion and the moving personnel around to get the best 1 on 1 matchup
I also expect there to be some hiccups along the way
It won't be perfect, but i expect it to be better than the past couple years

Score a lot of points. Protect Etling. No turnover. Injury free. What else?

A little bit of everything.
34-10 or 31-6 type of score

Keep an eye on the Offensive Line.
If they struggle with either run blocking, pass protection and reads/assignments against BYU, it will spell big trouble against SEC teams.
I have a pretty good idea of what's coming later in the season, so I'll not be disappointed when the Offense isn't the Juggernaut that we all hoped it would be. (Because of the sub-par OL)
Not putting the cart before the horse for way too long is going to finally catch up with the program.

If you followed college football at all, you would realize that Matt Canada beat the team that gave Ohio State it's only regular season loss last year, won the Big 10 and played in the Rose Bowl, in only the 2nd game of the season. The team that is Pitt's biggest rival and an instate foe.
So if their are hiccups, you better hope they are in the first game.

I expect we'll find out on Saturday. Saturday, which really really can't get here fast enough.

I could see us coming out a little sloppy on offense. I think it will get better as the game goes. We may see jitters an mental mistakes from young guys, but that is to be expected. All in all I think we will be happy about how our offense does by the end of the night. I expect the D to come out hot. Again, there could be jitters from younger guys, but I think the talent will take over and we will be successful.

A see a lot of toss dives on Saturday.

I see a lot that looks like last year. Prob 65% run

I really expect them to score points. Maybe Etling is a lot better now.

A lot of motion, misdirection, straight hand offs to be successful due to the misdirection and jet sweeps/fake sweeps, short passing to TE and RB in the flats, wheel routes and a few shots 20 yards in the middle of the field (where Miles hardly ever attacked, and a few bombs.
A few mistakes but all in all we will produce yards and win the game and score between 35-41 points to 10 for BYU.

Coach O's LSU team last year did not have a single "ugly" win. Every game we won under his leadership was a convincing win. Don't expect an ugly win Saturday.

Canada's offense is run percentage heavy anyway. The difference is the run play design. This offense will not "look" anything like last year's offense.

I expect to see lots of shifts, motions, jet sweeps, shuttle passes, misdirection plays, and tempo changes employed to keep BYU’s defense back on its heels, guessing, confused, off balance, and uncomfortable. It should be a very fun offense to watch.
Etling should have a really good year this season and be one of the leaders in the SEC at the end of the year, as a lot of shuttle passes are going to pad his numbers, completion percentage, and QB rating. There will also be a lot of out routes and corner routes, along with lots of jet sweeps, with dangerous go routes sprinkled in when they are not expecting it.
The best thing is no more boring as crap Less Miles Stone Age Offense. I don’t think anybody will be able to stop us this season. Maybe slow us down, but not stop us.
It should be fun to watch Derrius Guice in this offense. Last season Pitt’s James Conner had a very good year and he was a very hard nosed running back and football player, however, unlike Guice he didn’t have breakaway speed. Derrius Guice is also a very hard nosed running back, however, he also has breakaway speed with amazing cutting ability. I think he is going to have a Heisman like season, but also look for Chark, Dillon, Gage, Moreau, and Moore to all have productive seasons too.

I expect a LOT of people touching the ball, and at least one long TD on a jet sweep.
Won't be disappointed if there are growing pains or penalties in the first game, but I will enjoy the different look with more misdirection.
