Moments ago Paul Finebaum made the case that LSU isn't even a top 5 job in the SEC. He claims the coach doesn't have control becuase of boosters putting their fingers in decisions.

It's really Bama, Florida and LSU for the beat job in the conference.

I'm the same way, but when USC is rolling, they can pluck players from across the country. They're the premier school west of Austin.

Their fan base sucks, but otherwise they are at least on LSU's level from a coaching standpoint.

What's threatening about the USC job opening up, potentially, is that Tom Herman went to school out there and is very familiar with Southern California so that could be a problem.

USC is just as good of a job as LSU and probably better in some areas. Out here on the west coast it's all USC and every recruit want to play for the Trojans

If he recruited as well as he did here then I don't see why not

Not having Bama on the schedule every year helps

The Pac 12 is run by offense and Miles poison to QBs. We have already seen first hand that Miles can't consistently have a dominant defense and his OL's pass blocking is awful. His teams are undisciplined, and that would be cancer with all the Cali diva players. Clock management issues, retaining terrible coaches until they find a job, and not recruiting to scheme. He wouldn't be a disaster, but 9-4-10-3 would be what they get yearly at best.

Basically their take was that of all the jobs likely to come open this season, LSU is by far the best.

Have you ever lived in Southern California?

Not lived but I've visited a lot because I have family there. I fricking love it bro. Wasn't a diss. I am just one of those die hard NOLA people who never feels at home unless I'm there...no matter how awesome the alternative...

I've lived in some amazing places overseas too...same problem...

I hear you. Baton Rouge will always be home to me but it sucks. I enjoy being able to do things in the middle of the day during the summer

USCw has lost a lot of its glitter & that goes back to when PC left, i.e. almost a long time ago in program lives. It's in a shitty part of town, it's facilities are not close to the best in the SEC, let alone LSU, and it's fan base is Southern Californian, i.e. laid back. And now that the Rams are back in town, a lot of L.A.'s focus is on the NFL again. Not sure what any of its recent hires have been paid but I do not recall hearing any figures like those that are common in the SEC, especially for staffs in the league.

Well yea, Louisiana sucks arse during the summer. There is no reasonable rebuttal to that.
I also hate giant flying roaches, and the strange smell of piss that pervades downtown. But who is counting?

He got that yesterday from Tim Brando. I'm not saying that boosters don't have influence or aren't a pain in the arse, but it's much less prevalent today than it was several years ago. Brando's opinion is a bit dated.

The LSU "booster influence" is no better or worse than it is at Bama, Auburn, A&M, Georgia, Tenn., etc. Every coach of a big time SEC program is going to have overzealous pain-in-the-arse boosters to deal with.

This is really being blown overboard.

LSU gives the HC a lot of freedom and even allows the highest paid coaching staff. Even FSU had issues.

I am really tired of seeing LSU get shite on because of what happened last season which was politics.

I don't even like Alleva, but I'm not even upset with him any more.

A great coach would do well at LSU.

Oh come on now. The fan support is in LSU's favor heavily. Otherwise, it is close everywhere else. They're both elite places to coach with the right guy.

agree. I think it's just a matter of the background of the person and where he wants to be. Personally, I'd prefer LSU.

I know some that would prefer USC though.

100 fricken %

If players in the NFL is the measuring stick; LSU has the best recruiting in the nation. Which means, you should be competing for a title every year.

Taking that into consideration, along with facilities, local culture, resources/money -- in my opinion, it's a top 5 premium job.

I would think Georgia is as good a job as any in the SEC. Similar recruiting advantage that LSU enjoys.
