He's gonna get canned in Chicago this year, what a pipe dream that would be. Alleva should hand him a blank check.
Bring Hoi ball to the deaf dome

Handing him a contract would probably be more prudent.

We'd need the Bulls to fire him early, which is possible, because no way Alleva is waiting a month(longer if they get the 8 seed) after our season will end to make a run at Hoiberg.

Maybe Steve Prohm if Iowa State fires him to get Hoiberg back

Hoiberg would be interesting and his availability could potentially create a ripple effect across CBB.

1. ISU is doing fine with Prohm. But you know (just like LSU fans if Saban had ever become publicly available early in Miles' tenure) the ISU folks would LOVE to have Hoiberg back. That, in turn, could make Prohm available, who has pretty lengthy ties to LA (assistant for a total of 7 years at three LA schools).

2. Right now there doesn't appear to be any big time programs who will definitely be searching for a new coach at the end of the season. Likewise, there doesn't appear to be any programs who are head and shoulders better than LSU who may be on the search for a new guy (Maybe Illinois, Mizzou, Clemson, Kansas St.?) But, with Hoiberg available, maybe a school like Indiana tries to pounce? Crean has done a good job there, but "good" isn't always good enough at IU. Hoiberg could make Crean available. Crean is a bit of a wacko (like his BIL, Jim Harbaugh), but he's also a pretty good coach. LSU has some resources. Might be a place he could win without dealing with the immense pressure of the IU job?

3. Obviously Hoiberg would be a great hire at LSU. And with his alma mater (ISU) currently occupied and no hands down "great" NCAA jobs on the horizon, who knows?

Of course (and unfortunately) all this is contingent upon Alleva (a) giving a shite and (b) being able to actually think outside of the box, and willing to conduct big-boy negotiations.

You all are funny.

Fred and I are classmates and I know his parents well. Unfortunately LSU is not and will not be on his radar. He will either stay in the NBA coaching or as a GM.

His likelihood of a return to ISU is so minimal but is 1000x more likely than him stepping foot on LSUs campus. Carol would not want to raise the kids in Baton Rouge or anywhere in the south.

A few of us have been to Ames. Baton Rouge, with all of its flaws, is a huge step up.

I have never raised kids in Ames or Baton Rouge but Ames is definitely thought to be a much nicer place to raise children nationally.

We know Alleva by now, and we know that (b) is something that idiot is not capable of.

That would be your opinion. Knowing them, having lived in both Baton Rouge and Ames that would not be their opinion.

Add to that all grandparents live in Ames, both Carol and Fred grew up in Ames, and they have always vacationed in Ames when they are not living there. Baton Rouge would not win out.

Perhaps I'm reading this wrong, but you think we have a shot at an #8 seed? Does the CBI select more than 8 teams?
