I read in another thread we won't have him this fall, but haven't seen it confirmed anywhere. Did I miss something? I know he has had character/ academic issues in the past. Does anyone have info?

I think it has to do with academic issues. I've not heard anything beyond that.

If he can't do it in the classroom he won't be around this fall
That's why he missed bowl game
Know one knows his academic status so it probably won't come out until they report for fall camp

I see. I assumed the other poster was just assuming based on his past. Herron has yet to live up to the hype but would be a huge loss to much needed depth on the DL. Quality depth at that position has been the difference lately.

Herron's a solid, NFL-caliber player and a Senior. He'd be a big loss even if he doesn't start.

Don't know about that middle part. (Underline added by TNTigerman.) We may not have a chance to find out.

Sorry. I'm just not seeing that. He came as one of the highest ranked members of the 2013 recruiting class and has done really nothing of note at LSU at a time when the DL has been desperate for playmakers.

The 2013 DL struggled mightily, and of the Freshman that year, only Lacoture could get on the field. The next year wasn't any better with Herron only playing 4 games. Godchaux, a true Freshman came in and started ahead of him. He had zero starts in 2015 and 2016 (even with Lacoture missing the entire season).

I think most would agree between 2013-2016, LSU had lost some ground along the DL relative to where they were prior. However, he's never been anything more than an occasional backup when LSU could have used some impact players at DT.

Average, experienced backup? OK. NFL caliber? Based upon the last four years I'm just not seeing it.

If this year's DL is going to make a return to past dominance it's going to be because Lawrence/Alexander have taken the next step from their Freshman year (or some of the newcomers shine), not whether or not Herron is on the team.

I hope glen Logan turns into the freak i think he will be. He has NFL ability. Neil Farrel would be an awesome addition if hes college ready. Big Shelvin would definitely get some reps at NG. Gilmore has changed his body 100 percent since hes been at LSU and will have a great year. Excited about our DL!
