So does NPR....a reporter calls the difference in reaction to Clark and Angel doing the same thing evidence of a clear double standard. Seems like there is growing backlash to the way Angel was treated initially on social media and the press.

People are acting as if there is no trash talking in basketball.

Doing that gesture to the air is different than getting in someone's face. Have you noticed that people get called for taunting opponents to their face, but not when they aren't near anyone. I'm sure you would have a different reaction if someone yelled in your face vs yelling into air after winning. Context matters.

Which is exactly what Reese set out to accomplish. I have to give her credit here. That was well-played. She absolutely proved her point whether people want to agree with it or not. She has been unfairly criticized all season for the way she trash talks while other star players in women's basketball do it and nothing is ever said about this. No judgement towards them.

It's an absolute fact and it's wrong to single her out. Either be against it entirely and call out the others in the same fashion or respect their passion on the court. They are making the sport incredibly interesting by having personalities.

Clark is no saint on the floor. Louisville's star player is no saint on the floor. And, IMO, it's great for the sport. It adds more excitement. However, Reese doesn't deserve all the classless talk she has received even by LSU fans. That bothers me so much that our own fans have shite on her all season long.

By all accounts Reese is a wonderful person off the court. She is a leader, great teammate, and she works hard. She is respectful of her elders. She even hugged Holly Rowe after their interview and it was so genuine. It was so sweet to see. I think it had such an impact on Holly that she is now defending Reese on social media as well.

That's the thing. People saying she ran up to her, etc and was "in her face."

Yet I rewatch it and every time it looks more tame.

If she was in her face then why is it that Clark was unaware she even did it???

Explain how you can be in someone's face and they don't even notice you. Explain how that is serious?

And by the way I watched Clark taunt Louisville's player and she walked right by her with the same gesture.

How is it "in her face" when it was literally behind her back? The moment Clark turned around Reese stood still and pointed at her finger.

The stuff people in this country now choose to prioritize. The topic of trash talking in competitive sports shouldn’t be one of them.

All the appeasement and signaling by some of the LSU fans in the face of winning a championship is ridiculous. In todays world, those who appease and apologize publicly tend to get run over.

Her Clarktaunting was a little over the top, but that’s the way young athletes act these days. The media is simply, and cleverly, making a racial thing out of it. No surprise there.
