Can anyone say why Fournette can't travel with the team to the bowl game? Is there a rule that says someone who is not eligible to play cannot travel?

Son he signed with an agent so his college career is done-zo.

OK...He can't play. I get that. Is there a rule that says he can't travel on the plane with the team and stand on the sideline?

He can and probably will be on the sideline just like former players.

He is not longer an amateur, he has a agent. School cant pay for his ticket. He is welcome to pay his own way.

I think since he signed he has officially lost his amateur status and isn't allowed to participate in team activities. He could travel on his own dime and I'm sure be allowed on the sideline, but nothing actually involving LSU money or assets.

Just a guess.

He signed with an agent, therefore he is not an amateur athlete, and if LSU paid for him to go to the bowl we would likely face serious sanctions.

Are you sure about this? I have NEVER heard of a rule that says a school cant pay for a professional athlete to come to a game. In fact, I'm pretty sure former players get free tickets all the time.

Haven't some programs used former players to practice against for certain opponents?

Maybe, but what you're getting at is not the same situation...

Right. But I've yet to get anymore of an answer than simple speculation.

Yes.

Long story short, LSU can't pay for him to travel with the team, but he can attend the game on the sideline, as LSU get's a limited amount of field passes.

Since Leonard has an agent.....he is no longer a Tigah....I don't even know if he could practice with the team....Leonard is now Tigah history along with many of our Tigahs....he is now the "olden days"

Ultimately, we are talking about participation. What constitutes participation? As far as I can tell, he is only "not eligible for intercollegiate competition".

I've been skimming the bylaws but cant find anything about this. Why not? He is a Professional Athlete, now. Why would the NCAA give a crap who LSU pays for to come to a bowl game. Obviously they would care if it were a recruit, but an athlete who already has 0 eligibility?

Sorry I am harping on this, I just don't get where everyone gets the idea that since he hired an agent, suddenly it is illegal for him to be around the team.
