Colleges have these?

In this case, it's referencing the separate practices the first few days for the returning players, where freshmen (except LF) will not participate, and have their own practice instead. Technically though, the team itself could be called the "varsity", but the only time you hear that is to contrast with a junior varsity team, which not many schools have.

Well yeah, even if he was just a three star RB he would practicing with the varsity to start...because we only have two guys on scholly there....outside of him and D Williams

But even with that...it wouldnt matter if we had 10 guys on scholly...he was always going to practice with the varsity...not sure if that made sense...I have had some beers tonight...I might be drunk.

he's gonna win all the heisman's. so many, in fact, that they're gonna change the name of the trophy from "heisman" to "fournette" and the heisman pose will be changed to the buga glasses over the eyes.

Does me he will be practicing both sessions each day?

Might as well put the young guys that will see the field through both morning and afternoon practices.

Don't they mix vets and freshmen every year for morning/evening workouts before they combine later?

He was the number one recruit in the nation. I would expect this to happen.

They do in the NE. Primarily with the Service Academies and the prep schools up there. Some of the Ivy League Schools would have JV teams as well. The JV squad would play the Fri night before a home team.

The games give development to Junior Coaching Staff and GA's. Also gives the scout team a chance to play in games.

At least this was the case 20 yrs ago. I'm assuming since several stud recruits that don't qualify still go to Hargrove Military Academy Today that the JV system still exists.

They also have a pretty competitive 150's league in that region as well.

Probably not. It is good for the freshman to get those first few days with one on one training to learn the plays and the system. There is a significant difference b/w the pace of practice at the college level vs high school.

For the guys that are good enough to see the field as a true freshman their ability to learn the system will be the difference in whether or not they actually see the field.
