His accuracy and mobility is surprisingly good given how those were supposedly his weaknesses.

Who said those were his weaknesses? He always had some mobility, just not a dual threat. His problem was adjusting to the system we had here. Now in his third year of college, he should be pretty good to go.

What kinda grinds my gears is that he looks like the prototypical pocket qb we could've used last year

Yep. I do like a prototypical pro qb who can make all the throw and surpass the 100 yd mark per game. Especially with the pro style offense we run.

Harris can make all the throws, but anyway, I think you may be overreacting a bit to 1 half of action vs. a terrible FCS team.

Norfolk State has 7 wins in two years, playing in the MEAC. We don't know much more about Rettig than we did a year ago.

Happy he found a spot to play, but I'm going to wait until he faces some actual competition before I say he would've been a solution here.

True. However he has been under pressure and has shown he can throw accurately under pressure.

However, Rutgers as a team looks awful.

Yeah he's also a year older as well. A lot different to know what you are doing as a redshirt sophomore compared to a redshirt freshman.

He was having a hard time adjusting here because he had to move from a strictly shotgun only Passing spread to an under center, play action passing. He had to learn the drops, improve his footwork, he had a turnover problem in high school (18 as a senior). Had to learn how to read a defense, make calls and checks at the line, etc.

Taking some of what he learned here, and improving on his mandatory redshirt, he looks pretty good.

Why didn't he beat out jennings?

Because he was worse than AJ. Knckleheads looking at Rettig in his third year, and saying he'd be better than AJ was in his second year.

Too bad our coaches ran him off.

How did our coaches run him off? Was he told to leave the program by our coaching staff? Seems to be quite a few people that have this opinion of him being ran off after he left.

This is Norfolk St... let's not read too much into it.

Exactly

Theres no way in hell Rettig plays as well against the juggernauts on LSUs schedule such as N. Mexico St
