Now, LSU needs some QB development to get these WRs the ball.

Hello from a Tech fan... Came over to read what you guys were saying about Fehoko a few weeks ago and since LSU has now nabbed a second transfer from TTU, I thought I'd let you guys know what you're getting.

Giles was probably our best receiver last year but his production tailed off late in the season against better opponents. His body language started to seem a little lethargic and he ended up spending some time on the sidelines towards the end of the year.

Fast forward to spring football and the coaching staff listed him as second string on the depth chart, most likely to try and motivate him a little bit. Turns out he and his family felt "disrespected" by it and the coaching staff was in contact his family for a couple weeks leading up to his transfer trying to get him to stay. Well, that obviously didn't work and the staff looks completely moronic for it.

With all that said, Giles is a really good player. And if you guys know anything about Tech, the most production comes out the slot position where he played. But I honestly don't know how much success he'll have at LSU. You guys don't have a QB and I'm sure he'll have a plethora of 4/5 star receivers to have to beat out. I think he would've been better off in a more receiver-friendly offense but that's his choice and I think Fehoko was in his ear..

That brings me to Fehoko.... he's not good. I'm sure I'll get berated for that but he's still not good. He was one of if not the least productive defensive linemen we had. And we virtually had the worst in the country. But when true freshmen and converted offensive linemen are lined up next to him and outperforming him, it tells me all I need to know. He'll provide depth but he won't be a game changer.

Hope I shed some light on the dumpster fire we have going on over here. #GunsUp

Interesting comments on the two. You're probably right about the two to an extent, but A LOT of schools were after these guys. Maybe they were just poorly coached?

Both seem like great depth additions, and LSU has the spots with a smaller class last season

Giles went from about 100 yards to over 1000 between his freshman and sophomore years. Not to mention he was a QB in high school. Hard to say he was poorly coached and the Tech receiver coaches are no slouches.

You could make the argument Fehoko was poorly coached considering he was on the worst defense in the country but we have 2 dlinemen in the NFL right now who were coached by the same DL coach. One of them is pretty good (Kerry Hyder). He was let go after Fehoko's freshman year and it was a big factor in his intention to transfer.

From a depth standpoint I'd agree with you on both. Better they're going to your program than the programs you'll play against.

Between his number, the way he runs and his build....he reminds me of Early Doucet

I figured that he was coming here. He's from texas and the final 3 were LSU, fsu and oregon. Oregon is way the frick and they're bad right now and florida state isn't close enough. Once again ed orgeron is fricking killing it.

I trust O's opinion on a DL any day and he's a better DL coach than anything at TT.

While I appreciate your insights, I profoundly disagree with your assertion that
quote:

You guys don't have a QB
.

If you watched us play last year Etling was only bad in one game, and didn't get any help from his teammates so it's hard to put it all on him.

The four guys behind him all have potential to become top 3-5 SEC QBs.

I think Etling will surprise this year with a Brandon Allen-esque statistical improvement.

He led game winning drives against Auburn and Florida that he got screwed out of by a cheating clock operator (Auburn failing ton stop the clock on first downs and runs OOB stole at least 35-40 seconds) and a mistake by a teammate on the final play (Florida). That's clutch AF for a QB.

Etling will be a top-5 if not top-3 SEC QB tbis year.

The guys behind him are the best depth at the position we've had since Jamarcus and Flynn.

We've had some QB issues....never any issues with putting WR's in the NFL

I don't, I don't know why y'all think Etling is a good QB?? He was a game manager last year and that's all. He's got an average arm and throws a terrible deep ball, and he's not athletic at all. But with that said they will have to go with him because McMillan is not a good QB either and I can see him transferring. And Scott and Narcisse aren't ready right now with Narcisse being the most talented QB, but knees are not ready.

Haha, fair enough. But it's worth noting the QB who helped Giles get those numbers was a 10th overall pick and was throwing him 50-60 yard bombs almost every game. A receiver is only as good as his QB.

glad he chose LSU...but I generally don't have the patience to wait a year to see a juco player play for a year.

Etling is irrelevant to this guy anyway as he will be gone before Giles can step onto the field

Also still a lot of schools that don't know we are changing our offense

I trust the opinion of several high profile head coaches who wanted this player more than a fan such as yourself but appreciate your interest anyway.
