It's not so much a play calling thing as it is a mindset thing. Sure you can show every play of the second half and say "See we stayed aggressive!"' like some posters are doing, and I'll agree that's a strong argument.

But killer instinct is more than play calling. It's coaching your players up to play 100% for the entire game. It's showing a little fire on the sidelines even when you're up by 30. I hate to use this as an example, because Saban comparisons get old, but it's a perfect example last week when he was grilling Kiffin when they were up 30 on Western Kentucky with 1 min left in the game. As much as people hate him, it's Petrino calling a timeout up by 40 with 1 min left in the game. Call him an a-hole, but he has killer instinct.

Killer instinct is expecting your players and coaches to execute even when you have the game firmly in hand. Great teams beat other teams down so bad it makes them quit. It's simply inexcusable for us to continually let lesser teams back in the game. I'm sorry but it's been a very long time since we've had that killer instinct under Miles. Play calling or not, his team's are mentally weak.

You couldn't be more right. I could see that LF doesn't have the killer instinct. That's why he dropped the ball. Twice. Neither did any of the other players. They just don't care if they aren't doing things the way some fans want them to.

Your grasping. It's ok, I'm tired of Miles too. But just admit that, this one time, he is not to be blamed for the close game. It's ok to admit that and yet still be ready for a new coach.

Or going for it on 4th down up by 17 in the 4th?

Did you notice all of the changes to OL personnel LSU had to make during the game? The play calling did not change. The execution of the plays just wasn't as crisp.

And they still came out flat at the start of the Ole Miss game...

No, he's just an a-hole. Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten so pissy with Les kicked the FG late in his last year at R-Kansas

You can ignore it all you want, but we saw the same thing last week against Jax St. They just didnt have the horses to fight back. When we do it against SEC competition, last night happens.

Last week the offense got shut down.

That didn't happen this week.

I'm right in the front row of the fire miles train, but last night wasn't on him.

You mean that LSU wins. And you find that bad? OK

But yet, "his teams" rank #2 among all power 5 programs for wins while playing a meat grinder SECW schedule since 05. One wouldn't think "mentally weak" teams could do that.

I have amy observation.

OK so we complain about the players looking flat after half and in the 4th quarter. Riddle me this do the players not feed off of the excitement and atmosphere in the stadium.

If so then wouldn't the fans that left an empty stadium shoulder some of the blame also?

Just look at Louisville and Petrino yesterday against FSU.

So basically you have nothing? By your logic you can attribute every whiffed block, bad pass, fumble, pick, or bone head penalty directly to Miles.

Come on, don't be obtuse. I root for us to win every single game, but focusing solely on the W/L column is very short-sighted. We continually get duped by ignoring what's happening on the field and saying a W is a W.
