Fixing this offense; is it just the QB that's the problem?

anyone with eyes will agree with the football analysts when they say our offense is one dimensional and predictable because of that. but it goes deeper than that as we have witnessed. problems with getting the plays in on time (not a problem last night, for once), numerous penalties, ( esp false starts), predictable snap counts, poor blocking (by all involved inc rb's and te's), and awful passing accuracy. we beat aggy last night but it was because of our defense and our special teams coverage. we won DESPITE our offense as the rest of the team had to overcome the incompetence of that unit.
this, and Miles inability to fix it, is what led to his "near firing" and I don't believe that is going away; it's just being delayed. probably until we play bama next year when many believe it'll be de ja vu all over again.
what needs to be done to fix this mess.
1) can cam. I have advocated this more than once. he is the offensive coordinator and this offense is not coordinated.
2) get a damn qb that can pass the ball. last night was the worst passing performance I can ever remember in football at any level. virtually all of his passes were overthrown or thrown behind the receivers (or both). they were so far off that, with one exception, even the defenders couldn't intercept them.
3) hire somebody that can teach these kids how to block; not just the OL but the TE's,WR's and RB's. the "big cat" drill just doesn't hack it. hire somebody from boise or Utah; those kids are amazing at blocking.
4) change the focus of recruiting. sure, you always need the skill positions but without an OL you are doomed. we had two freshmen on the OL last night and our two tackles sure as hell aren't all world not to mention our center is playing out of position. and what about our TE's? we sign a ton of these guys yet only one can block? coach O and Steele will fix our recruiting woes on Defense but our offense recruiting on the OL and at QB needs to be upgrading big time.
next year we pretty much have to play the same guys while replacing two (I pray Pocic stays) starting tackles.
I hope i'm wrong but i'm pessimistic that we will fix this offense any time soon. i'm also not convinced Miles will do what's necessary to fix it. he was asked last night about firing cam and his response included the phrase "we sure needed him tonight".

I thought Harris was put in a position to succeed last night.
Time to throw- check
Open receivers- check
Mixing up play calling- check
QB getting the job done- uncheck
So while not down on the guy he's got to do better, especially when he's got the three things above happening. JMO

To 1. Cam is THE offensive coordinator, but he has not been allowed to do his job.
To 2. Get a damn qb you say? Hasn't happened and as of now doesn't appear that it is going to happen. LSU coaches should have been looking for a qb for a month now. They appear to be more out of the loop on our recruits than the recruiting board which figured he was probably leaving for Florida weeks ago.

This is the part that I never understood. Les wants to be I formation, smashmouth football. Yet the O-line recruiting up until Grimes was sloppy at best. I would think this would be the priority above all else.

Last night it was the QB and penalties (as usual), mostly the QB. People underestimate the effects of our penalties. We are a very undisciplined group and every game we kill ourselves with penalties.

quote:Only have 2 o-line commits for 2016 right now and one of them is a 276 pound 3 star. (I know some 3 stars pan out, but a 276 pound lineman wont cut it). Signing day is mid January.
