Dude was gutting the first pitch all day long...and nobody would swing at it. Are they told to take til they get a strike? We need to be more aggressive at the plate. Missed a lot of good hitting pitches with the bats on our shoulders. Even the announcers were talking about it. What gives?

We have been. The whole year. It's what got us to Omaha... Why we didn't do it today boggles my mind.

So you wouldn't post a thread about LSU not working the count

How many of you average fans think the batters are allowed to get up there and have free swing?

Wrong. Several innings more than one batter swung at first pitch. Result? A couple 5-6 pitch innings. In fact, the box score indicates that we weren't patient enough and rarely worked counts. Their pitcher had an 80 or so pitch count when he was yanked after 7.

The facts are the facts

Because 79.7 percent of the time we pop out when swinging at the first pitch.

The guy was throwing with major sink on his pitches. We (rightfully) were looking for pitches that we could handle that were up rather than chasing balls down in the zone.

We have been a first pitch swinging club since PM arrived. We are complaining about it now. We complained about it with Javi. There is one common denominator here.

This is not something new with LSU baseball. The odds are better that you get a first pitch fastball for a strike, but now that the habits are developed, coaches adjust. It's not working as well. Plus, it does lead to many 5-9 pitch innings for the opposing pitchers, allowing quality starters to go longer.

Hard to complain about the results this year though. We have been a great hitting club all year, up til postseason.

We got whipped period. Poche had one of his worst pitching performances and the worst fielding. They were flat after the errors and that big inning. By that time it was the sixth and Paul said eff it we playing for tomorrow end of story. Feel sorry for the next opponent. LSU is going to put 10 on them and I don't see anyone getting more than 3 against Lange.
