Field conditions for the game

I know this isn't a very important, question but does anyone know why the field condition for the game was so bad? There were numerous players slipping down, huge chunks of sod ripping up on cuts, and overall just sloppy. Perhaps the worst I've ever seen the field at TS for a game with no rain.
