This is clearly the beginning of the end for him. This is the lowest the program has been since he got here. Much more than half of the fan base wants him gone. Chavis is leaving for the aggies. LSU lost to Notre Dame. The reason I feel bad for him is, the Michigan job was his if he wanted it. But now that he let it go, he'll never get that chance again. When LSU fires him in 3 years or so, his rep will have taken such a hit, and his coaching philosophies so exposed that Michigan will never make the offer. Even if Harbaugh is gone.

He should resign and retire.

He over exceeded even his own expectations.

The Michigan job was never his, ever. Not one time did they offer.

Les response to adversity though

He has major talent on the team...

If he can fix the QB situation, LSU will do big things, if not, mediocrity is here, and LSU will push him out

I do not think he was ever offered the Michigan job, and if he wants the fans back just win more!

no doubt, rough year for Les.. that big check that hits his account every two weeks probably softens the blow a little though...

I don't feel sorry for him at all. His hard headedness is what got us into this jam, and his exit will probably be our best chance of getting out of it. Besides, I am sure the boy has plenty of money by now.

If Les would lose the stubborn arse persona, he could make some adjustments and come back stronger - but he won't. We'll play AJ all year next year and be lucky to win 7 games.

Lloyd Carr would never let Les be hired at Michigan. Not 2007, not 2010, not now.

OP These are self inflicted wounds. CLM has refused to listen to counsel; he chose to go his own path and now that is the path he is on. He is well compensated - no one should feel bad for sorry for him.

As for LSU- their wounds are also self-inflicted and it appears they are equally as stubborn regarding poor choices. The verdict will come in one more year. Another season like this year and CLM may no longer be here.

Advice to CLM- hire a top notch DC- keep Cam

THEN GET OUT OF THE WAY OF YOUR COORDINATORS!!!!

STAY OUT OF PLAY CALLING

CLM, you may just upright the ship

You know what, in one sense I do feel bad for Les. He's shown he will go to bat for his assistants many times and now this.

On the other hand, I don't. I might if he had risked his reputation by taking risks on the field for the millions he's paid. This season was tanked, we could have been preparing for next year more effectively. He wanted his 10 wins, refused to break from the norm and now we all paid the price.

No one said following the ND game:
- "well, looks good for next year"
- "they played hard, just need more experience"
- "at least they are steadily improving"
- "you can tell they are just on the cusp of success"

No hard feeling Les, you didn't meet anyone's expectations and there will be no sympathy from this quarter.
