1969 Auburn vs LSU about 40 seconds in on this video.

Great game.

Matt Flynn......coached to be a QB by Jimbo Fisher and excelled under Gary Crowton.

How much better off would LSU be now if Jimbo would have been given the job in 2005???

2001 Definitely

So many story lines and the high stakes of the game.
Last regular season game after it was delayed from 9/11.
Winner goes to the SEC Championship Game against Tenn
Last time Auburn was in Baton Rouge they smoked victory cigars on the 50.
Whole Auburn team stomps on the Tiger Eye before the game for unsportsmanlike penalty.
Damon Duval gets in a shoving match with the band at halftime.

LSU had never played in the SEC Championship game before, this was the awakening of a giant. Rohan & Josh Reed were unstoppable, and many young stars came of age that year. A lot of future NFL talent on the field that night, and the atmosphere was electric.

Watching the videos of the older games like that lets you appreciate Tiger Stadium at full throat for a full 4 qtrs. That's when ever victory was a celebration, no matter who we played. You stayed the whole game because you wanted to see what happened next and celebrate with the team in the end. If that game were played now, only half the stadium would have seen Duval being a douche after halftime, but they would have found out about it on their phone.

I was goal line - 1st row of student/greek section for that game. The whole season was awesome -- that game and the FL game were incredible.

I will never forget that catch or the 5-5 4th down conversions during the FL game.

I also will never forget when I was with my father at the FL game in '97 - . My dad was adamant about going on the field regardless of having his 9 year old with him. He lifted me up and some random guy grabbed me to put me onto the field, then he jumped over and was on the field. That memory will never fade.

This is the one that stands out to me.

When you look at the level hitting, intensity, just nastiness of some of the games in the 2000s (of course, other SEC teams have had a lot of games similar, but the physicality in some of those Auburn-LSU games in the 2000s got to some exceptionally high levels), I think that's the kind of football that Missouri and Texas A&M have just not been accustomed to over the years, so while they've had good teams during their time in the SEC, I just don't see that they have games like that as parts of their football programs, and I think to some degree, the inability to be able to play like that has prevented their good teams from being Champions. Although, I think the Texas A&M Defense is starting to have that look. When I watch that D, they close on the ball fast, and the D-line looks bigger and more powerful.
