Frey looked terrible at first today. Two balls hit past him. I hope I’m wrong but today looked bad defensively.

I did a quick check of my notes and found Larson and Braswell have 3 HR's and Travinski and Jones have 2 each, there are several more with 1 HR.

Jones hit 2 today that dented the left field wall. I hope the guy can hit a curve this year!

Only question about Braswell at this point is where does he bat in the top of the lineup.

Attended the scrimmage. My thoughts:
-Braswell has SS locked up at this point. Fielding is crisp. Doesn’t have the arm of Thompson but between the fielding and batting I think we upgraded here.
-Bingham has some nice pop. Hit a long out to left center that is a HR on a normal day. Nice oppo single.
-Frey will get starter ABs this season. Hit an opposite field tank and overall really liked his plate presence.
-Milam flashed to me. Made a real nice backhanded play. Great range. I liked his plate discipline. I look for him to be the early leader at 2B.
-Neal played 3B. Didn’t notice anything too notable there.
-Pearson and Frey both struggled fielding. Each had 2 errors. Pearson basically dropped 2 balls from Milazzo on stolen bases. Frey just got ate up on a couple grounders on some in between hops but needs to learn to body up at 1B.
-I sat right behind home plate. Always knew Milazzo had an elite arm and pop time but you get a better perspective behind the plate. He barely broke his squat and threw darts down to 2B.

I think they can get to 46 pretty easily. Between injuries, overload in OF and some pitchers are the bottom of the roster.

-OF: Last year had 8 active. Two being Mic Paul & Josh Stevenson who really didn't play.

*Kling, Pearson and Frey have played other positions this fall.

OF 2024

1)Mac Bingham
2)Paxton Kling
3)Josh Pearson
4)Ethan Frey
5)Zeb Ruddell
6)Ashton Larson
7)Mic Paul
8)Derrick Mitchell
9)Griffin Cooley
10)Dallas Dale

I think there are probably a few redshirts there and maybe even a transfer.

Injuries?

-Jaden Noot
-Chase Shores
-Trenton Lape
-MJ Seo

I think it is assumed we see Noot in the fall, and that Seo's injury isn't season-threatening. But who really knows, they are so quiet about injuries.

Pitching: They have about 24-26 guys right now if you count some of these 2 way players. They used 15 guys last season, even with a rash of season ending injuries.

Roellig is hitting better, so don’t count him out.

I don’t remember Pearson ever playing anything other than CF growing up. Pretty sure Frey was a catcher. I’d expect them to look out of place and make a lot of mistakes.
