The kids will not be in harms way. They are flying into Tampa. This is outside of the projected cone of the storm. It is a 2 hr bus ride from Tampa to Gainesville. They will probably push the time of the game back from 12:00est to later in the day. If on Saturday there is danger then Florida will cancel the game. The tigers will get back in the plane in Tampa and fly home.
I believe Florida really doesn't want to play the game, so that they can stay in the east race. Tennessee has 2 straight games against the best teams in the west, and could very likely lose both. Florida cancels our game and then wins out, they win the east. Toughest games left is Georgia and at Arkansas.

I'm not concerned about the team's safety. The school won't put them in harms way. I'm concerned that the game will get cancelled

People don't realize the projection cone isn't actual size of the hurricane, it's tracking certainty of where the center of the storm will pass. Hurricanes are freaking huge:

If this game gets cancelled bc Florida won't move it and they don't forfeit that's bullshite. Alleva needs to burn the sec office to the ground

He certainly needs to be express these views to the sec office right now. There is precedent from last year of moving a conference games due to weather on short notice

Matthew is only 35 mile radius and the closest point to Gainesville that it is projected to go is over 12o miles away and Tampa is even farther. Tampa may get some wind gusts, nothing that large like us south of Tampa. So calm down.

Not playing does not help them stay in the east race

Where did you get the 35 mile radius? That thing is a lot longer than 35 miles across.

Sure it does. If they play us and lose then Tennessee would have to lose 3 times for Florida to go to Atlanta. If the games is canceled that's one less opportunity for them to lose. Tennessee is 2 tough opponents in a&m and bama. Florida after us only has Georgia and Arkansas. Much easier path. At 6-1 they go over a 6-2 Tennessee
