Possible?

Ummm... let's get through BYU before we start making projections.

If he's a 60%, 3000 yard passer, with 20 TDs (and presumably 11 or fewer INTs) - we're easily an undefeated national champ.

If...

I think he goes over on TD's and a shade under yards.

? id love to see it...still think we ride DG and Etling settles around 2500-2800yrds

2800 would be golden if it's not 4th quarter catch up yardage. Which I can't see happening with Aranda's defenses.

1900 and 17 TDs is probably more reasonable.
2016 he had 2100+ in 10.5 games.
I'm more concerned with the TDs than yards and think LSU will need 20+ to contend, same as the last 3 NCG appearance Tiger teams all had.

In 13 games last season for Pitt, Peterman threw for 2855 and 27 TD's.

Can Etling exceed that? Maybe.

However, we know that Guice and the RB's will still (likely) be the focal point of the offense. Also, I think many would say the SEC (as a whole) plays better defense than the ACC. I don't see many SEC teams giving up 50, 60, 70 ppg.

If he is close to Peterman's numbers, then Etling and LSU have had a really good year.

Does your question include the SEC Championship game, the playoff and the Championship final?

Hopefully what we do see is more big plays coming from the passing game though. i.e. 30+yd completions

Would be great. What's concerning is we couldn't pass protect last year long enough for those to develop even with the threat of the run and sweeps and short passes against better defensive fronts. The receivers have to get better at reads i.e. When to break off routes and Etling has to get better at changing plays in the pocket.
The art of quarterbacking i.e. Preparing for the pros is a concept lost to most offensive coordinators. He doesn't have to be anything more than Zach Mettenberger in 2012. The defense will be good and the running game will be great.

Passing stats will largely be dictated by situation. If we're up 21 on someone and the defense is playing lights out I don't think we'll be chucking it around 40 times a game.

Under 3000 still got Nathan Peterman drafted and led the #3 S&P offense in the nation. And it's well known that completion percentage is a pretty flawed metric solely used to rate success. Plus, considering how many unknowns your entire offense has, and the strength being a RB, it's hard to expect more on the QB's end and call anything less a failure.

And you forget the prevalence of the shovel pass in Canada's offense. I think he goes over 3K with at least a thousand yards of his "Passing" yards as simple pitches forward.

Absolutely 3000 but I'm gonna say 17-18 Td range. Guice and co will get the bulk of em.

I want 8 Y/A and 13 Y/C under 10 INTs this season, then we KNOW we're in business

I understand Danny will be able to pick up passing yards from more shovels and passes within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. My point remains the same though, that not hitting that number in no way makes him or the offense a failure
