ESPN: LSU insiders say Alleva has wanted to hire O since day Miles fired

This per Schlabach. I'm pretty sure the so-called journalists at ESPN just make things up. You may want to avert your eyes from the first half of the article, unless you are eager to witness Schlabach giving Bama a rhetorical rusty trombone. The unstated subtext of the article seems to be that programs like Bama and Texas will thrive, while little, impoverished ole LSU will have to hire a local boy on the cheap and hope for the best. (Apparently, Schlabach has no understanding of how the AD is actually funded.)

After missing out on Herman and Florida State's Jimbo Fisher, the Tigers will hire Orgeron. Many LSU insiders say this is what athletics director Joe Alleva has wanted to do since the day he fired former coach Les Miles.
Orgeron won't be judged as much by LSU's final record as its improvement on the field. In only two games, the Tigers have shown dramatic improvement on offense. After setting a school record for total offense in an SEC game with 634 yards in a 42-7 rout of Missouri, the Tigers averaged 10.9 yards per play in a 45-10 win over Southern Miss, their highest in a game since at least 1960. That's called progress.
If the Tigers can keep defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and bring in a high-profile offensive coordinator, Orgeron might be in line to get the job. He's a Louisiana native and a relentless recruiter who is well liked by high school coaches in the state. Plus, he'd probably come cheap compared to more established coaches, and finances have to be a concern for a cash-strapped university, especially after Miles was paid a buyout of at least $10 million.

They have been caught just making things up related to LSU before. I. could describe myself as an LSU insider

Expect Coach O to be here for a long time folks

I'm good with that. Coach O is one of us and he can compete with anyone in recruiting. As long as he has good assistants and lets them do their job....frick the rest of the country.

It's amazing how people can just write stories that are totally made up bullshite and pass them off on a major site like ESPN.

How is that helping Johnny Jones succeed?

To be fair, he did write an article in the preseason saying Miles would be fired before the year ends..

6. The Longhorns win the Tom Herman sweepstakes
It's actually not going to be much of a sweepstakes because other attractive jobs such as Auburn, Notre Dame and USC aren't going to open.
Thought that was kind of funny.

It's pretty clear that it's saying if we miss out on Herman and Fisher then it's Orgeron if the team shows up.

And the meltdown will begin in:
3, 2, 1 . . .
3, 2, 1 . . .

I could see it though. Sounds about like Alleva. Have a chance to hire an elite HC and you give the job to a DL coach.

I'm a ESPN insider and I am hearing from multiple sources that Schlabach and McMurphy have both been known to give a foot tap or two while in the stalls at the men's room.

Good catch. The fact that he thinks Auburn is an attractive opportunity that would somehow merit Herman's consideration while giving short shrift to LSU in the same article demonstrates that he is either biased or abjectly stupid.

If you read the entire article, you'll see that he makes a series of predictions. In his opinion, Herman will go to Texas, Jimbo will stay at FSU, and LSU will hire O. In the course of making those predictions, he states that Alleva has wanted to hire O along, citing unnamed insiders.

I have nothing against O, but it's been shown time and time again that it may take an outsider to get this program to its peak.

Journalism is dead. A simple review of Les Miles' contract via google search would show that his buyout is going to be nowhere near $10 million. And to use "was paid" as if was entitled to receive a lump sum rather than amortize the amount. The article has no credibility on that alone.
