ESPN at it again, LSU with #1 SOS and they want to play the non conference card

5. LSU
Toughest nonconference game: at Syracuse. There shouldn't be any concern about an upset in New York, especially after the Orange just lost their starting quarterback to a season-ending injury. FPI gives LSU a 93.4 percent chance of picking up that road win.
FPI noncon rank: 84
Why the concern: The odds of anyone in the SEC West going undefeated are slim -- especially LSU, which has the No. 1 overall SOS rank in the country, according to FPI. Expect LSU to have at least one loss in the SEC West race -- and no marquee nonconference wins. Alabama just got one over a ranked opponent in Wisconsin. Auburn just got an important one against a decent Louisville team. Texas A&M certainly caught the nation's attention with its win over ranked ASU.
What the committee will debate: What will separate LSU from the rest of the SEC West in the committee's eyes if it has a comparable league résumé? Will the overall strength of the SEC West be enough to overcome a laughable nonconference schedule? What if LSU and Alabama both finish with one loss? Will the Tide's win over Wisconsin be the tiebreaker?

If only LSU and Alabama played during the regular season...

Depends on who the one loss is to. If LSU loses to Bama but goes to the SECCG then no. A 1 loss LSU SEC Champion will go over a 1 loss Bama.

what if LSU and Alabama both finish with one loss? LSU gets in because LSU beat Alabama.

It's impossible for LSU to lose to Bama, both teams finish with one loss, and LSU go to the SECCG.
ETA: Oops, there is a slight possibility. They could finish in a 3-way tie with another team who beat Bama but lost to LSU, in which case it would be possible for LSU to win the tiebreaker and go to the SECCG.

Do some of you guys legitimately think ESPN doesn't like LSU?

Link to this nonsense?

If LSU finishes 10-1 losing only at Alabama and the bams finish 11-1 losing only at UGA, bama would go to SECCG and probably win it ending up 12-1. LSU at 10-1 MIGHT have trouble competing (for CFP) with 11-1 TCU/Baylor or 12-1 Pac12 or ACC champs. I do not think the CFCommittee would put TWO SEC teams into the playoff leaving out 1-2 conference champs who actually have a better record than LSU. Winning a conference title will trump a harder SOS I think especially when the conference champs have a better overall record than the SEC at large team.

What if LSU-Bama is canceled due to lightning?

I dont see any team getting in the playoff without winning it's conference.

+ 1. In the McNeese game LSU's offense looked like recycled 2014 offense with telegraphed plays blown up by McNeese cornerback, toss dives to Fournette, and the long downfield incomplete pass to Dupree. Could have been a time warp back to fall 2014 controlled by Les and Cam.

So they're saying we beat Bama.... we lose to someone else....and bama should still get in?
