The Tigers are banged up in the secondary and are using some younger players, but they have given up only 19 touchdowns on defense in seven games and are tied for first nationally with Minnesota in fewest number of plays allowed of 20 yards or more (19).
If we eliminate the busted plays and bama has to drive the length of the field, I don't think they stand a chance.

Our defense isn't that bad, its just Jefferson and Thomas giving up big plays. Jefferson tries this stupid spin move when he's getting blocked and it gets him completely out the play. I dont know what's wrong with Thomas, he is responsible for most big plays that happen.

I think what he's saying is that if not for Thomas and Jefferson making mistakes, that bold part would look even better.

He's been learning under nick saban dude, pretty much the best. If you actually look at that infamous West Virginia game, Clemson had a bunch of turnovers and he pretty much gave up the same amount of yards as our awesome 2011 defense against the same team. And Alabama didn't have the talent they've had when he was DC there. So stfu already.

Yeah, people still reference the WV game, and think we should have reeled in someone like Clancy Pendergast...who gave up a paltry 63pts to Az St in his last year as a DC...

RJ is just not a very smart football player IMHO. It takes a while for him to learn from his mistakes. He has the measurables and is an excellent athlete. Compare him to JA who learns from his mistakes and is in the right position the vast majority of the team. And he has the athleticism to match. Not sure what is wrong with Thomas. He has regressed instead of progressed.

Sounds like it runs in the family.

The defense has played some dominant halves of games: notably in the early stretch against Miss St., Auburn & Syracuse. In the second halves of those games, it looks like they got tired.

In the subsequent games, they haven't shut down opponents in the first half as much, but don't appear to be on their heels in the second half as much either. But there have been one or two busted plays in at least a couple of these games that make the games seem closer than they should be.

Overall, though, the defense if playing pretty well. It hasn't been completely dominant in any games yet, but has shown signs of it.
