ESPN - "The unstoppables: How do you deal with Fournette, McCaffrey, Mayfield, Watson?"

ESPN asked SEC coaches, "How do you stop Leonard Fournette?"

"You tackle him low, you're probably going to be concussed. You tackle him high, you may take a ride. And they're going to force you, in the run game, to make people that don't like tackling tackle." -- SEC defensive coordinator.

Hey ESPN, you can one add one more remarkable star to that fearsome foresome, how does anyone stop LSU's Guice?

Barry Sanders/bo jackson clone wouldnt have had success that day. There is no rb that excels with their oline getting no push.

But the rant thanks you for shitting on a positive thread about lsu.

91 yards rushing- 4.8 yards per carry
36 yards receiving

Arky didnt stop LF.
Being down so quick stopped LF.

Have the #1 recruiting class 8 years straight? Including a fellow #1 overall prospect not starting but just providing depth in the front 7

And arky did not stop Fournette, as mentioned above

It's also possible to have an off day, similar to Henry vs ULM: 13 carries for 52 yards (4.0 ypc)

Oh and here are Henry's stats vs that ark team: 27 carries for 95 yds and 1 TD (3.5 ypc)
^ Fournette put up the same numbers on 19 carries

Henry is the single season rushing leader in SEC history by the way, I think fournette was about as unstoppable as RBs come

Didn't he average almost 5 yards a carry against them?

It was probably our defense that stopped him more than arky that day.

What Rick said.

Basically as Bama showed everyone if you plug up all the holes, and keep the O line stagnant, stack the box and dare us to beat you through the air you can stop LF. You also have to have a ton of talent and your offense has to keep LF on the bench.

Your eyes deceive you or you're just repeating nonsense. Saban loathes sacrificing pass D for run support.

Bama didn't need to stack the box against LSU.

Exactly. bama had multiple guys ready to sub in and out on any given play with minimal drop off. No defense in the country could do that.

Agree. Everyone focuses on LF's stats on that day. Anybody remember our passing stats... 6 for 19 for 128 yds. One of those 6 completions was to Gerald Hawkins for 2 yrds. Nobody on offense was cutting the mustard that day.

This begs the preseason question "Are we going to see LF and DG in the same backfield this season to help keep the defense from loading up in the box?"

Thats the thing. Bama didnt stack the box to stop us. They played 2 nts when it was onvious run situations and then rotated in smaller and fresher dlinemen when we tried running outside in the 2nd half. Bama's defense was looking run but they werent walking people into the box the majority of the game.

Yea and another completion was the one harris through up for grabs into double coverage and Dural just made a crazy play on the ball.

How do you stop LF?

Lose your FB and TE to injury

Right because LF did nothing without those 2.

Barry Sanders lived with defenders in his backfield. He definitely would have had more than 40 yards.

No he didnt. His line is all they invested in in Detroit. There is a difference between the right or keft side getting dominated and the entire line getting pushed back.

Lomas brown and mike utley were beasts for Detroit
