Props to Ensminger for fully embracing the fact that he needs help modernizing the offense, and handing the keys to Brady. From everything we've seen thus far, they seem to have good chemistry. Excited to see the end-product.

quote:

Orgeron said he went to Ensminger in the offseason and said, “We’ve got to go to the spread. He said, ‘I agree. Let’s get somebody who knows it and let them put it in.’ "

quote:

"I’ve enjoyed it since he (Brady) showed up,” Ensminger said. "I have no ego. I want help.”

quote:

“Sometimes (people ask), ‘Is it Steve’s offense? Is it Joe’s offense?’ ” Brady said. “This is our offense. We’re all in this together.”

quote:

Orgeron said Monday that Brady will be with Ensminger in LSU’s booth in the press box. “Steve’s going to call the plays, Joe is going to have the next play ready. If Steve wants it, he takes it.”

My big thing last year with Ensminger is that it was so obvious he knew what needed to change and wanted to change it. It was also painfully obvious he was not expertised enough to be able to execute on that change. Admitting that and addressing it is refreshing in comparison to a certain mentality we lived with for a decade.

This is one of the things I was concerned with. Play calling is just as important as what offense you are running. You must keep the defense off balance and guessing. This is the way you beat those bama bass turds. I just hope Steve doesn't reject Joe's plays often. I think Joe is an innovative person who can come up with plays that will confuse the defense.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Steve for saying and doing this. Not everybody has the kind of mind it takes to run a successful collegiate football program at a high level against elite programs. Hopefully with Steve and Joe together they can compete with the elite.

I’ve never seen a HC make so many promises every year and ask his assistants to push this propaganda with him. Why not just give us results? Every off season is filled with these grandiose promises that never come to pass and then it’s all repeated the entire next spring and summer. Orgeron is in the wrong profession, he should’ve been a politician.

I actually think SE is a damn good play caller, he just needs better plays. Hopefully this is the solution.

If Ensminger needs help: We need an OC who can do the job!

Orgeron will find out the wages of going with friends instead of hiring the best.

Woodward will teach O some hard lessons he seems challenged to learn. IMHO

This all makes me really damn happy to hear. A top tier school like LSU needs a Billy Beane and Peter Brand running the offense. 2 guys on the same page can come up with some good ideas and I hope they work well together. We have a senior QB with huge nuts so I hope we put the pieces together..

For future reference, this is a fictional character.

Paul DePodesta was his actual name

What you want the guy to do? Just not answer the questions when he's asked... You want him to answer every question with, "I'm just bout that action boss"?

2 unsuccessful series later it’s scrapped. O brings it back to the bread and butter...right up the middle twice, then a pass short of the chains.

That's what a smart OC is supposed to do. Bring in the expertise for a major overhaul. Smart guys don't re-invent the wheel.

Brady likely has hundreds of Spread/RPO plays drawn up with WR routes, blocking assignments, QB reads, etc. - all ready to go.

To be fair to O at least what he is saying is matching what we have seen on the field.
The spring game looked different. The offense while still very vanilla looked like a different type of offense. Under Les he would say all these same things but every time anyone ever saw the offense it looked the same.

Also kind of heard to show you results in June considering they don’t play for another 2 months. All they can do is talk about what the plan is.

Read between the lines. This is clearly Joe Brady’s show. They aren’t practicing his plays to not use.

And If he has the next play ready, that is the play. Lol. This isn’t hard to understand

It's a very gynormous "IF."

It will be interesting to see how each handles it when what was chosen didn't work out.

The first step is admitting you have a problem. Seems we finally admitted that about our offense and that O and Steve just quite honestly ain't the solution there.

Is this Brady kid? We'll see.

How refreshing. Goddamn I love Slinger.

If only he would have been named interim. Would have been such a proud moment to have a true Tiger that only cared about LSU take over.

This is all fine and dandy, but Ensminger is going to have to accept that Brady is a better play caller than he is for this to work. It's great to say that now, and it's easy to pump up the offense in practice. When the lights come on and the heat turns up Ensminger is going to have fight his natural instinct to go back to what he is most comfortable with.

Not saying he can't do it, but he will have to fully accept that Brady is pretty much doing his job.
