Maybe, but my money has him doing a lot of what he did last year, which was sitting toward the end of the bench getting to know Shortess and Eddlestone.

he has the size to do it. but he demonstrated poor hand eye coordination and was physically slow as a freshman. he needs the game to slow way down for him to be effective.

There's more to rebounding than being big. It's about positioning and ability to attack the ball. I don't think he will get to 10 rebounds very many games. His offensive game also has a lot of holes right now, but he could get there. I'm hopeful for the big man.

if he can keep his weight around 270-280 with our perimeter players it will open up the middle. I do not know about double double but 8 pts and 5-6 reb per game is serviceable. if he or darcy can pose any type of threat in the middle this team will have a legitimate shot at reaching the final 4 as long as JJ does not mess it up. if elbert and darcy can combine for 15 pts and 10 reb a game combined the perimeter with Simmons, Victor, Hornsby, Patterson, Quarterman and Blakeney is scary. most of these guys will require double teams to stop which will spread the floor and allow for a lot of fun basketball. I am stocked this year it is going to be exciting

I am actually more optimistic about him than most of the previous views I have read.

I think if he has adjusted to the substantial weight loss and has some idea of what it takes to contribute, he certainly has the height. He is needed to make LSU a solid team--not that much returning in the way of post players.

I was never as high on him as many were. He was really slow in high school. I just don't know if he fits the mold of what LSU wants to do. He can't run up and down the court, isn't a treat in transition, and has limited range.

Hopefully with the weight loss he can get around better. We just need him in there for rebounding and defense so if he can contribute in those spots, he could be a very important piece to the 2015-2016 team.

Hopefully after a year in the program, Tommy Moffitt has added muscle to his frame. If we could get 10-15 quality minutes from him, that would be fantastic. We don't need a double-double from him every night, but 5 to nine points and rebounds would certainly help. His size alone makes him a presence in the paint, or at least a "space eater." A few blocks from him would be nice too!

If we can get five minutes, okay defense and 2 o4 3 rebounds I would be happy.

Not even close. Very little basketball skill. Very little quickness and average hands. If we can get 10-15 mins and 4 ppg 4 rpg this coming year I would be very happy .

Exactly. Anyone who watched his film could see he was a huge (figuratively and literally) project that wasn't ever going to step in and be elite.

For all we know, the light could come in this off-season or maybe even the next one.

You see Austin Nichols from Memphis migghhhttt be in play?

It would be a God-send, but IMHO he'll have to transform physically by leaps and bounds.

He just seemed to me last year to be very slow and labored in his movements, even for a kid of his size. And he lost a lot of weight coming in.

Certainly there are drills and things one can do to improve agility and quickness, but there is only so much one can do in that area.

Basketball is trending away from the plodding big man. I think a big man can still impact today's game but I do believe that the modern big man has to be able to move his feet. Elbert has a long way to go in that regard.

I hope he can get there.

I have seen some talk that there were some injuries, so to be fair not sure to what extent injuries played a part in what we saw Re his labored movement.

I hope he can improve the agility and footwork. We really need a big guy who can board and protect the rim to be a complete team that can compete on the level we want them to and not miss out on the opportunity we have with a dynamic talent like Simmons in the one year we have him.
