Hey, I'm more of a football guy, but because I'm interested in recruiting, I was excited when JJ signed him. But I never see his name mentioned. Is he a major work in progress or something? Because with the incoming recruits, plus Victor, and a couple of returning guys, any progress from Robinson could be huge for next year. I'd love to hear some of the bball gurus thoughts.

He was highly recruited in high school wasn't he? Like a high 4 star or even 5 star?

He has dropped a lot of weight since getting to LSU and he's still struggling with stamina and quickness. I hope he improves in those areas (and knowing his defensive rotations) bc you can't coach height.

He was on camera yawning in OT. I don't think he's happy with his current role.

He looks lost on the floor. Can't catch a pass, is clumsy, can't defend down low, is really slow as someone else mentioned earlier. I really can't find a good thing about his game so far except he eats up space. The game is just way too fast for him right now. Physically he has all the tools, he just needs to develop.

He actually moved better in high school before he dropped all the weight. Looks taller now also. Could be he's still growing which could explain his lethargic appearance. Once he matures and gets stronger, he could be a big help inside but not yet, as you said.

Very nicely. Into a future airport security guard.

He is not very athletic.

And his role--the big, immobile, aircraft carrier, seven-foot center--is becoming obsolete.

I mean, why have a guy 7-2 clogging up the middle who is slow and ponderous, when someone like Jarrell Martin is 6-10 with a complete game?

Shaq was an all-time great not because he was over 7 feet and huge, but because he was all that and could move, too.

Robinson is a Len Elmore-Rich Kelley-type center.

And the old classic, post-up, in-the-paint center is becoming as extinct as the passenger pigeon.

There is just not much place in this modern up-tempo game for them.

Besides us, he was recruited by Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Nebraska, and his hometown SMU.

So yes, while he was nowhere near a Ben Simmons as far as recruiting interest, with GT and OSU, there were some good basketball schools looking at him.

He needs time with the right work ethic he could be very good. At times you can see flashes of his potential.

I think that's the issue. I hear he's a hard working and certainly there are drills and methods to improve foot speed and agility.

He needs to work on these every day, and there's only so much you can do, but that's probably IMHO what's keeping him off the court right now.

He's very clumsy right now but he can grow out of that. They had a loose ball 3 games ago and he looked like a 70 year old man going after it!
I'm thinking if he's lost 50 pounds or whatever he's lost how did he even function before? He will be a monster in the future!

Needs to inherit the mean streak and forget this isn't high school BB anymore... He just looks like his mom told him not to hurt any of the other kids... I'm sure with time and understanding the college game he may become a force... Just not quite yet though....

if he's got the dedication to lose that much weight, there's no doubt he has a good work ethic and can certainly fix his game up.......i think it takes a strong person to be able to change their lifestyles like this and shows a lot about their character
