Ed Orgeron Hypo for season

Let's say LSU gets somethings fixed and finishes the season at say 10-3 or 9-4,including a bowl win. What happens to Ed? Does anyone think Aleva would give him a permanent shot?

Alleva is going to do whatever he thinks will make/save the most money.

If he fired Miles to hire Orgeron after he goes 7-2 with this talent, Alleva should be fired.

If he is successful AND the alternatives are anything less than a home run hire, then I think he should get the job. I like the idea of a Louisiana head coach if he can be successful.

It depends on who LSU can get.
As long as Coach O is given a fair interview, I believe even he would understand if it was another coach to get the job.. It also depends how well they respond.. but even maximizing an Interim coaching situation does not mean it can sustain as a replacement.
If someone of lesser coaching was to be hired, then he would have legit beef. LSU needs to go after the very best they can get.

It should depend on what the #1 option that demonstrates mutual interest wants. I would hope he'd want to keep an asset like Orgeron but this is part of the deal of a regime change. They need to be prepared to clean house if that's what it takes for someone like Herman to come on board. Balking at that idea will have LSU choosing from a group of second-tier coaches.
Coach O, love him but he's not a head coach.

The only way O gets this job is we miss with all other top name candidates. Deep down O knows this, but he's at the pinnacle of his career so far and he's going to coach as hard as he can to win just because he's a LSU fan and emotional guy.

Orgeron was probably pissed at USC because he was very successful as interim, given the hand he was dealt, and he was passed over for a slightly above average coach with a well known drinking problem.
Unless he goes 8-0 or 7-1, it's going to be hard to pick him over the top three candidates.

If they pass on Herman, he won't be available next time around. Remember, Auburn is about a 1/2 step from shitecanning Gus. Someone will have to take over that program as well, and no telling what other schools may have vacancies.

If coach O goes undefeated or loses only one game but beats Alabama he has to get the job and he is economically the best choice but this is the only scenario that he gets (and should) the job.

No he doesn't have to get the job. I think that would be very short sighted to hire Orgeron based on just this season when other coaches have put together better resumes' for years.

But he will get it, think about how much money LSU saves

Any coach who gets a coaching job in Arkansas and has to ask "Where is dat?" is the perfect coach for LSU. But seriously, he would mop up all the talent here...not let a single 4 and 5 slip away.

if coach O wins out he won't keep his job

False, if he wins out he will play for the NC and no administration is going to fire him.

If Ed wins 6 out of 8 u have to consider it. I would be fine with it if we land a top shelf OC. On would be cheaper so we could throw big $ at a damn good OC and keep Aranda. Nothing wrong with that move if O turns this thing around
