According to the ODDSMAKER formula...

Alabama has a Rating (R) of -11
LSU has a Rating (R) of -4

Since this is a home game for LSU, LSU's current Home Field Vantage (HFV) is 3

You take -11 (Alabama's R) and subtract from -4 (LSU's R) to get 7 (Neutral Field Line)

You take 7 (Neutral Field Line) and subtract from 3 (LSU's HFV) to get 4

Right now Bama would be a -4 favorite

and as of right now, for LSU's remaining schedule...

LSU -1 vs Arkansas (R = 1, HFV 4)
LSU -4 vs Texas A&M (R = 3, HFV = 3)

of course these are subject to change week to week with team's results.

oddsmakers don't use this. yeah they rate teams and compare the ratings but they don't follow it to a T. Just a very general baseline. Also LSU has higher than a 3 Home field advantage. 3 is usually considered the average and we have a higher one while vandy has a lower one...I've heard around 7.5-6.5 from some offshore books. Vegas will prolly sit on the higher end

LSU beats Ole Miss at home as a 3 point dog, and then is a 7.5 dog at home to the team that Ole Miss beat?

Seems legit.
