Linked are the box scores for all 3 games.
Game 1
Crews: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
Berry: 0-2, 2 BB

Game 2
Crews: 2-4, R, SB
Berry: 1-2, HR, 3 RBI, BB

Game 3
Crews: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI
Berry: 3-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI

So through 3 games against elite pitching and using wood bats, here are their stats.
Crews: 5-12, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, BA .417, SLG .750
Berry: 4-8, 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, BA .500, 3 BB, OBP .636, OPS 2.011

2022 LSU offense will be so fun to watch!

when you have shitty 8/9 hitters, he won’t get rbi opportunities. However, that won’t matter this next season. They won’t pitch around him or to him.

It only matters for exactly 1 ab a game. What I like about Johnson is his hitters patience at the plate. There is not set strategy except see as many pitches as possible and get on base. When you see your pitch, crush it.
Crews will excel under him. Hitting to all parts of the field with power is a given with this guy.

Good pitching >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> good hitting. This philosophy killed the Aggies in 1989 vs LSU.

Need a bigger sample size to make an accurate assessment. Do it again when they both have 50+ at bats

Can't disagree. Capital G 'good' is much better than lowercase g 'good'.

Arizona was a great hitting team abs they got out quick. NC St would have won it with their pitching without debate but the good ole NCAA screwed them. They were lined up to win it all but of course everyone watched them I’m sure.

There very few examples of series where this wasn’t true.

Maybe, maybe not. Crews is batting leadoff and Berry is batting 3rd right now. I could see Crews anywhere from 1-4 and Berry anywhere from 2-4.

If you have a loaded batting order where the bottom guys can get on base regularly, Crews can bat leadoff and get more at bats that way. It's the George Springer method.

Crews
Morgan
Berry

Makes for quite the top 3 in the order.

I believe there is a good reason you continue to see Crews bat leadoff regardless of team.

I really don't get why people have such an issue with it. It won't be an issue with better bats in the lineup. I prefer Crews get as many ABs as possible.

Still hoping someone can find the splits of him in different spots and with/without runners on base.

Point blank, teams pitched him differently when he had runners on base. I don't know exactly what to make of it as far as where to hit him because of that. What I do know is that he will have more runners on base for him next season, no matter where he hits in the lineup. And, he will be more equipped to handle the pitching strategy next season - maybe that means more walks.

The lead off spot and lineups have evolved with all the analytics in baseball. Springer and Acuna are not your prototype lead off guys. You have to get these guys to the plate as many times as possible. Crews would be great in the 3 hole but letting him give you a 1-0 lead first pitch of the game isn’t a bad plan.
