Drove 5 hours today and listened to all the talk shows. Here is the recipe for success.

Line depth: Not much you can do about that this season. Get Lawrence healthy, which means don't play him until Florida. Herron needs to get back, somehow some way.

We did a piss poor job of setting the outside edge on defense. Most of these breakdowns were due to freshmen. This can be coached and fixed.

This was not a Matt Canada offense. All these tight formations with a TE and F-Back are for max protection.
Obviously the coaches are very worried about a couple of things: (1) This line cannot block anybody. (2) Etling does not have the mobility or the arm strength to get out of trouble. They were playing 8 man fronts all night because they know that Etling is unlikely to beat them through the air.

The solutions: Play Brennan. Give him meaningful snaps. Let him throw the ball. Bench Gage and Dillon, a couple of 170 pounders who don't scare anybody. Take your big physical athletes like Davis and Sullivan and play them. If they don't know the offense, that's on you as the coaching staff. Start by teaching them one play. Then another. Then another.

Spread your horses out to keep the safeties out of the box. Give Guice a running lane. He does not have it now.

they were on the field the entire game. and once two players were ejected on an already thin unit of the defense, we were screwed

Good point. Still disappointed in the busted plays though

37-7. This is a systemic problem that goes beyond X's and O's I don't need 5 hours of talk shows to figure that out. But good points and the defense got shredded. The worst LSU team since 99. Thanks Alleva.

I don't know why you would bench Dillon. Completely agree with Gage.

It was cute last season when they were trying to get him touches and get him a score because he was a good story, but it's just annoying now.

You heard Hanigrif

No they were not. I tried to count as many times as a thought about it in in the second half and they were getting in with a 4 man rush and dropping the LBers.

you did have some good thoughts from the shows but the 8 man front was just not true all night.

Makes no sense Davis and Sullivan don't play more along with Brennan.

When the offensive halftime adjustment is to run tempo, and still go 3&out, defenses will always perform poorly... especially one that is depleted on the line

Dillon is a good jet sweep guy, and possibly a good slot guy who can go in motion. But I haven't seen him really get separation on anybody. Hanagriff noted that he was getting jammed at the line a lot, and his size is an obvious reason for that.

They did not load the box very often. They played 2 deep man under for most of the game.
We did not lose because of gage or Dillion. We lost because we got man handled in the trenches. Mett with hill, Beckham and Landry would have lost last Saturday with our line play.

We don't need to physically and mentally wreck Brennan putting him in
