Because of the timing of the draft, has there any been a player sign and not travel to Omaha? I know it's unlikely but aren't they ineligible the minute they sign their pro contract?

Could be wrong, but I don't think they can sign while their team is still playing.

I can't imagine any player doing that but I guess they could forego Omaha if they would sign but most MLB teams are not going to negotiate until after season is over.

I figured it is a unwritten rule to not get into contract talks while his team is still playing. I guess a player could actually sign and not play in Omaha.

I would question the "chest" of any player that would do that to his team mates, and I imagine the MLB club that drafted would not think very much of him either...
