Adjust the Interior OL. Slide Jones in and give the new RT a try.

Interior runs and interior pass pro are vital for middle throws and ball control. If we can’t attack the middle of the field or let JD5 climb the pocket on vertical pass concept playcalls, he will never feel comfortable enough to fling it downfield. We have seen him play enough to know that.

It all starts up front on offense. We will get better on Defense with Smith back, but the Secondary has to gel and improve from here. Which we won’t see as talented a pitch and catch combo as last night for a few months.

On defense, the scheme for Perkins and the complete failure to adjust at half made FSU look like LSU did in the 2nd half in 2022. 494 yards in the opener and giving up 31 in the 2nd half on non stop scoring drives isn’t alarming. It’s tire fire status.

We were completely outcoached in the 2nd half. The disparity between the headsets was stark and disheartening. That we didn’t make in game adjustments on the OL, at QB, or spell an obviously frustrated Perkins (the kid had fellow LB’s calling out assignments and pointing things out to him…in the 1st quarter) from a scheme or responsibility standpoint was likewise something that’s frustrating based on how we prepared this team week to week and adjusted in games consistently in 2022.

Whether we did and it just didn’t work or whether we didn’t and we’re just stubborn on the sidelines, we need to be unafraid to cut nuts and figure out how to make it work personnel-wise. Don’t wait until after Grambling.

Grade the film and move kids over, move them up and sit their asses down if need be. They’re earning good money via NIL to perform and if they’re not, make a change. If it still isn’t working, then it’s not the player…it’s the headset.

There’s just no excuse. None.

PS->FSU looked like they took the next step player development wise. Dudes at DL, QB, WR, etc. Did LSU look as if we did as well?

That’s a program issue IMO…And while it’s a one game situation and anecdotal at best for now…It’s something to keep an eye on. If for now ends up being more acute and glaring, we’ve got some growing pains.

EDIT (and I’m gonna let it rip here)

PPS->Hopefully this outcome is enough for Verge, “Win Win,” head scheduling Dunderhead Ausberry to be neutered by Woodward with scheduling bigtime games away from home without a Week 0 opponent to prepare.

We have hidden this guy to allow him to catch big paychecks at TAF, in the AD and allowed him influence in the Football Program and a major ability to frick seasons up via scheduling for too long.

He somehow skated out of serious punishment or real accountability with our NCAA troubles despite being a significant player in them and for almost a half century now we’ve started each season off with a resounding loss and a negative outcome.

Find him a broom closet to supervise and let him attend practice and lead Regions Bank Personal Banking Clients or Purple Jacket types through the facility and to the Ponderosa a few times a week.

But get him away from anything that looks like something that has an impact on our football program.

He’s caused enough damage for one career if not more already.
