The lack of offense in the 1/9/12 debacle was much more about the lack of strategy than about the lack of adequate QB play, although, we certainly struggled all year in that department as well.

Les came out with the exact same game plan that we used in the first Bama game and everyone in the CFB world knew (except Les) that Nick had dissected that game ad naseum and had a plan to completely stop us. He did a good job the first time and the second time was total stoppage. The only way we win that game was a different offensive scheme, just like Bama implemented. If you remember, they came out with a safe passing game that McCarron could execute even though he wasn't a great QB at that stage of his young career. I believe, as bad as JJ was, he could have executed the same game plan had we installed it. The result would have been a much more productive offense and more competitive game. I have always said that this game is what ultimately would (and did) get Les fired. His failure to change the scheme for the second meeting showed his stubbornness and lack of understanding of the changing college football landscape. I have a great respect for his integrity and compassion toward his players, staff and the community but he fell far short of the potential of LSU football during his potential.

The funny thing is that Jordan Jefferson has the best record vs Alabama of any LSU QB the last 10 years
