Does the SEC have authority to force LSU to break the contract with USA?

If not, then the league must find a way to complete a full conference schedule before playing the title game, even if it pushes the title game back for a week.

What a disgrace if only 6-1 gets Florida in and only 6-1 keeps LSU out.

This is what they DO have the authority to do:

"The sites, dates, and rotation of the eight-game schedule shall be set by administrative action of the Conference. Any conflicts that result in this schedule that cannot be resolved by the institutions involved will be submitted to the SEC Presidents and Chancellors for final resolution."

Interpret that how you want.

No.

Once the game was Postponed, they lost te authority to force the game to be played. Te bylaws state that the commissioner needs the cooperation of the two schools.

No, they don't.

But they have the authority to move SEC games around.

I swear that I read in the commissioner's regulation document that said something like conference games would take precedence over non-conference games but it didn't really elaborate on that. And I can't find it again.
If that line does exist, how will it be interpreted?

Other than that, there is this line.. "Any conflicts that result in this schedule that cannot be resolved by the institutions involved will be submitted to the SEC Presidents and Chancellors for final resolution."

So it appears that they might have the authority.. Although it's completely unprecedented and far from thoroughly described.

This is from Rabalais' column today:
quote:

According to SEC rules, the commissioner can cancel or postpone a game. But once it is postponed, he needs the cooperation of both schools to get it played.

No.

There's going to be some fricking litigation if the SEC tries some of this shite.
