Not really. We will get another good assistant in and he will stay till he gets hired up. It's positive for your assistants to get better jobs.... You can use those facts to get better assistants in the future.

Of course it does. It was a nice advantage having a coach with his experience on the staff.

Maybe we can get someone to tell Johnny when to take timeouts.

Possibly. Mussleman handled the defense. Go look at how much LSU's defensive efficiency numbers improved this year (KenPom.com). Someone has to now fill that void

Johnny Jones did not hire him. Johnny Jones did not want him. Johnny Jones did not consult with him. Johnny Jones did not utilize him in any substantive form or fashion.

Alleva brought Musselman in and Johnny Jones worked as hard as he could to ignore his abilities to impact the program. One of the few smart moves he [Alleva] made with that program. Believe what you want, but Musselman was no advantage because the head coach chose not to use him. In any way.

Outside of posters saying so on here how in hell would you know one way or the other what Musselman and Johnny's relationship was?

What is this based on? Some unfounded comment by Jimmy Ott?

I didn't hear that here. Whether you believe it or not isn't really my concern. The truth of the matter is that Johnny didn't hire him. That was Alleva's move because he already knew Jones was a poor bench coach.

On the one hand, I can't say I blame him for ignoring Alleva. On multiple fronts. For one, Alleva really didn't wanna hire Jones in the first place. The former Dale players and Dale himself lobbied hard for JJ. So why pay attention to a guy who really didn't want you in the first place? From another perspective, having someone hire a guy an assistant for you would be kinda crappy. If you want that to happen, at least let me give you a list of guys I'd hire and then interview them and make the choice in concert or collaboration with me.

Then again maybe that did happen before Musselman was brought on. That part I honestly do not know.

But I'm not here with a link. I'm also not here to prove to you I know what I'm talking about. You can believe what I said or not. Won't amount to squat in my book whether you do or don't. But believe me, Johnny was not a fan of the hire, and did not want him and did not take his input.

No. No, it's not. I don't get my intel from TD or Sports Today. As I said, I'm not here with a link. Feel free to not believe me. Seriously, it's okay. I'm totally fine with that.

He didn't even interview any other serious candidates, so I don't believe that.

There is probably some truth to what he's saying because it's been mentioned other places. However, make no mistake, GFunk personally has no idea if it is true or not. He's just passing on 2nd hand information as his own.
