I think MSU will test our front 7 more than Oregon did IMHO...

Our team is build on speed, quickness and power, but teams like Bama will really test our front line by pounding and pounding...wearing us down...sure we are 2 deep...but MSU likes an up tempo style too...

We don't really know how well our front will handle legit pounding just yet...

MSU will be worn out in this game.

They had a dogfight on Saturday while we got to rest people.

I think it will be a good test for us, but ultimately we're stronger, deeper and more rested.

It scares me, but then again I'm the only one on this board that expects a close game

The game will start fast and MSU will look good for the first 1.5 quarters.

Then reality will set in. Tigers run away in the 2nd half.

We should win. We have better players. But...they have all the intangibles going their way:

1. At home
2. Backs against the wall (can't afford a second SEC West loss this early in the season)
3. Risk that LSU takes them too lightly
4. Pissed off for losing to a team they were better than last week.

Yes it does. Even if we outmatch them, they are playing at home and turnovers can always happen. If LSU is -1 or more, the odds of MSU winning rise dramatically.

Miss St must not be too physical. They were manhandled by Auburn. Auburn was manhandled by a bad Utah State team. MSU is not physical. In fact they have shown nothing to make you think that this year.

yes

it's a sec game. They have lost 12 straight to LSU and will be ready to ambush IMO

LSU needs to be ready in all phases of the game

Also, being owned by a team for over a decade. MSU is gonna battle and test our D much better than Oregon could from a physical standpoint.

Don't make the mistake of thinking MSU will still be too tired or beaten up. Barring injury, athletes at this level recover within a day or two at most, that's one big goal of training. They will be full speed on game day.

This is just one of those games where if you're really a title contender this is where you prove it. Not much more to say than that.

Miss State will face a more physical team than they are. And a much faster team. Auburn looked to have a bit more speed but neither team could stop the other. Very porous defense. Watch for the running game to go wild.

I think this game could be trouble especially if we get into third and long situations. Their DTs are good and they have a seasoned secondary. Chris Wilson is known for his pass rushing DEs. Linebackers are their weakness. Mullen will game plan well. I expect it to be low scoring whoever comes out on top.

This is a good topic Apex. A lot of people think that just because Oregon and Miss State run a similar type of offense, its a foregone conclusion that the results will be the same. Oregon's version is more predicated on speed, finesse, zone blocking while MS State's is a bruising type, mano y mano, white knuckler, pound your arse with big linemen and big backs version. It's like playing a bunch of Reggie Bush's one week, then turning around and playing a bunch of Iron Head Heyward's. Should be interesting how we match up with a the more physical teams.

We should be the most physical team on the field regardless of the opponent on any given Saturday, except for Miami, OH and a 350-plus pound fullback in the rain at Tiger Stadium - OUCH!!!!

No blur, they run different plays out of different formations, whereas Oregon runs very similar plays out of a shitload of different formations, and Moo doesn't run anywhere near the crazy options Oregon does.
