No. We sat on the top row of the lower SEZ curve and could only see part of the field and could not see the scoreboard because of the ad signs on the facade above us. Worse seats I've ever had.

You can see the view from any seat in Tiger Stadium here.

This is from the SEZ upper deck next to the east side video screen...

Don't see how that is possible...

View from 3D seats...

..from pressbox...

...from the field...

...from east sidelines...

I sat on the top row of the SEZ upper under the overhang once, and what he said is true. You cannot see the scoreboard. It would be great if it had rained, but it was in Sept, no rain and hot as hell. I don't care about those seat views... I was there and experienced it first hand. I would
never want to sit there again.

WHICH scoreboard? Because if you're telling me you can't see the north end zone scoreboard....

The problem with the drainage would have more to do with the proximity to the Mississippi River. I currently work on a job with a comparable distance to the river as tiger stadium, we can't go 2 feet down before we get ground water, going 7 feet down pumps would have to run constantly.

If tiger stadium weren't so close to the river, lowering the field 7 feet would be the way to go.

My long time tickets in the EU were just a bit blocked by the landing rail: Row E, which is really the second row up. Row D would be worse I would imagine.

What was more annoying is that people would walk up to the landing and then a play would start. They'd stop to watch it, completely blocking the view.

Thanks to the expansion, I was finally able to move.

We got free tickets last year for upper tickets in SW corner. The new scoreboards blocked the view of the SEZ beginning around the 10-15 yard line. Terrible seats

Not sure if this has been discussed, but if you're in the lower deck in the SEZ under the overhang from the uppers in the last row, you can't see half the field if you're standing.
Seated it's fine. But the wife and I spent a good portion of the 2012 Bama game hunched over trying to see the field after jumping up on big plays.

This is where the problem is for LSU, and being right off the banks of the Mississippi doesnt help either....

Neither of those places are at our elevation, nor do they have a massive river half a mile away.

Except we don't know that's true of the ground beneath Tiger Stadium. In fact, we have good reason to believe it may not be true...

LSU Tunnels

Tunnels running under campus? It’s exactly what it sounds like. There is an entire tunnel system beneath the LSU campus that has over two and a half miles of tunnels. There are many theories behind why it was designed, but it originally served the purpose of holding the campus’ steam system when it was built in the 1920’s. These underground tunnels are linked from South Campus Drive to Highland Road and past the law buildings. As tempting as it may be to explore, it is unfortunately off limits to the public.

LSU’s Best Kept Secrets

quote:

Louisiana State University
I was interested to note your college tunneling page. Back when I was an undergrad at Louisiana State Univ, I began exploring the campus tunnel system. This was in the early 1980's, so much of this has probably changed since then.

The main system is under the "Quad" a central quadrangle which is bordered by the library and several of the major buildings for arts and sciences. This was easily accessed by a couple of points in the quad area. In this area, the tunnels range from wide walking tunnels to belly-crawls between steam pipes.

At this time, I located a map of most of the system (which I no longer have). Much of it is disconnected, meaning that a Quad explorer can't get to many of the interesting spots on other parts of the campus. There was an intriguing connection, I believe, to a tunnel which led beneath a road to the Journalism school building.

Louisiana State University

quote:

There are numerous urban myths about the vast tunnel network that exists under the University, but the truth surrounding the infamous tunnels is much simpler. At one time, tunnels were a fundamental part of construction design. Now they stand as a piece of history.

The tunnels are as old as the buildings that stand above them. They date back to 1922, the year the University started construction of the current campus. Beginning underneath the engineering shops, the tunnels run along both sides of the Quad before branching off to the Gym Armory, Foster Hall, the Pentagon and the Music and Dramatic Arts building.

Facility and Utility Operations Director Dave Maharrey said the 1.6-mile network’s primary purpose was to house steam coils, which provide energy for some of the old radiator style heaters on campus and chill water coils for air conditioning units.

For those interested, there is video available about the tunnels...

LSU secret tunnels

As an aside, there is also a tunnel under the trendy Beauregard Town neighborhood.

I'm not categorically stating that's it's possible to lower the field. But I am saying that it may be possible. And I'd like to find out, one way or another. I just don't know for sure. And I don't think anyone else does, either.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but have ever been to LSU's campus? You are aware that there is a hill that tiger stadium sits at the foot of. Those tunnels sit below the main campus building which are on top of said hill. I would be willing to bet that the floor of the tunnels sit about level with the playing surface of tiger stadium, not lower.

quote:

majority of the university's 250 buildings, most of which were built between 1925 and 1940, occupy a 650-acre (2.6 km²) plateau on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Also Baton Rouge is built on a bluff, most of downtown including tunnels is on the bluff.
quote:

The city is located in the Mississippi River Delta on the first set of bluffs north of the delta's coastal plains. Because of its prominent location along the river and on the bluffs, which prevents flooding, the French built a fort in the city in 1719.[19]

LINK

Basically what I'm saying is if they had built the stadium on top of the bluff, we probably could lower the field. But instead we are at the base of the bluff in the flood plain, or whatever you want to call it.
