I watch him throw and he rarely steps into the pass. Now I know he doesn't have the strongest arm but I think if he steps into a throw, he can have more command of the ball in terms of accuracy.

I don't think he's hurt. He's not Joe Montana, we can all agree there but the kid plays his arse off. It's hard to knock him. He gets little time to throw and does what he can and does his best to not hurt his team. If memory serves, he's only thrown 1 pick this season, knock on wood.

If that means he gets his forehead busted open or whatever, he takes it. He gets right back up.

Kid is all heart.

(Not saying you're knocking him, basically he has little time to throw because of the OL but it was better last week so let's keep our fingers crossed that that trend continues)

Any QB behind this line would struggle. I don't think he's done completely terrible when he has actually had time to throw. It doesn't happen often though. Nobody can question his heart though. Kid leaves it all out there every single play.

Etling puts forth a tremendous effort. He does not have the strongest arm, but has completed some big passes.

Danny gave it everything he could last Saturday, though he did not have a good day passing the football.

I am hoping that he'll be much more on target in the Auburn game, because he will have to throw some to put the Tigers in a position to score.

He's a tough kid. He's played his heart out. Hope he has his best game on Saturday

He does not throw interceptions and this is what the coaches want.

Etling has a weak arm and just does not zip the ball, Brandon Harris has a NFL arm but struggled with bad decisions.

As far as time allowed agreed that this offensive line does not give him time. Maybe our coaching staff should run this team out of the shotgun and give the QB 5 to 10 yard routes getting the ball out of Etling hands quicker.

You know, I definitely think that Matt Canada and Steve Ensminger haven't noticed that.

Send them an e-mail to make sure they do.

Orgeron said he got injured at the beginning of the Florida game but since then I’ve not heard anything about it.

He might be hurt, but I think lack of confidence in his line is effecting his mechanics. You can't step up when the line is pushed back in your face. Even when he has time he tends to bail too soon. You see it with NFL QBs too, not named Rogers.

Canada needs to adjust the plays to get him comfortable and mitigate the line deficiencies.

Etling has been slow to get the ball out lately. Not hitting receivers out of their breaks, but waiting for them to come open. That extra second has killed him, that's when the line has broken down. Heaven forbid we give him quick easy throws.

The almost pick he threw against Florida to Sullivan would have been a catch in stride if Sullivan actually looked for the ball. It crossed his chest and hit the defender behind him. I can recall at least 2-3 other times this season he's thrown and the ball hit the WR and they turned too late to look.

He’s not quick with decision making, so that won’t help much.

Been wondering about his back since BYU game. He tried to throw ball away while running. Not sure if it was pain on his face or frustration.

Pretty sure it resulted in grounding penalty.

Dude is a fighter. He's not the most talented quarterback in the league, but you can't question his grit and determination

By the way, this is the first time in a long time I can say that every Post in the entire thread is reasonable and objective.

You mean the pass where he triple clutched and threw the ball far too late to Sullivan instead of throwing it to either Williams or Gage like he should have?

Of all of our QBs over the last decade (which is a rather low bar), I would only take Flynn and Mett over Etling. Brennan looks promising but we honestly need to let him develop a little more (and not get crushed behind an underperforming OL). Etling would be completing a lot more passes if he had and OL and WRs that we are used to seeing.

Danny isn't great but he's not one of the bigger problems on the team. Hard to get too upset when he's getting crushed back there.

Although that Williams miss was awful.

Lindsay Scott, Jr.

This is a QB thread and nobody had said his name yet. Figured it was obligatory.
