Does anybody follow their shot or actually look at the basket when shooting a layup?

When watching the games how many fade aways or shot it and back pedals do you see? Nobody follows their shot and they are not a very good shooting team.
Also on short layups or transition baskets they miss a bunch because they all want to look off the defender but don't look at the basket.
Basic foundational BB....but they all want the ESPN moment vs doing the basics. It will cost them at some point.

There seems to be more of an emphasis on getting back on defense after the shot

I assume you’re talking about the LSU women’s team since this is in the rant.
All I’ll tell you since you apparently haven’t watched much of it, is that watching the game is like being tortured at times. 90% of us only watch the sport because LSU is good at it and we will watch LSU do anything if they are good at it.
Just accept it for what it is

I love when people watch their first game of the year and then run here to tell us what has been crystal clear to the rest of the world from day 1.
And then they offer a solution, bc they clearly know better than Mulkey with their one game of experience.

Watched the pelicans game last night and the men at the top of the profession do that too. So it's the norm I guess

Getting back on defense has proven to be more important and valuable than following a shot

I hope not. One of the biggest misconceptions / outdated foolery in basketball.
You probably sound really smart screaming this at your tv the one time the ball goes back to the shooter in a game.

LOl have gone to a few games this year and person and watched on TV. Even went to USCe game, agree the game changes over time but when you don't have a good shooting team, somebody needs to rebound. Another thing is when you look at their losses they struggle to close out strong the last 1 minute of the quarters usually. They rush their shots and give up easy ones to the opposition.

Shooting in the NBA right now is the best it has ever been and it’s not close.

When you attempt a layup you go straight up in air from about 6 feet away and let your momentum Just carry you there straight up and look at basket the whole time and then lay it in basket. Most players go up at an angle, thereby losing where the goal is in process and throw it up and have no idea. Watch good college or pro players that do not funk attempt a layup

Millennials were the last generation taught this skill.

Haven't watched the NBA in years...miss going to games at the old Boston Garden watching Bird, Magic,Jordan etx. Now its a bunch of wannabes, play ground ball and 1 on 1 iso....who cry everytime they don't get a foul call. As Kobe said SOFT
