Does 104.5 in BR think we're all degenerate gamblers?

Fridays are all about point spreads and Jimmy Ott's inside info on Eastern California's third string running back.

It would be nice if guys who think gambling is the coolest thing ever would understand that nobody outside of their gambling circle gives a shite. I wish they’d just keep it in their little group text and let the people who don’t lose $1000 a month on “sure things” enjoy sports normally

Just chasing them ad dollars.

At least the Otter has been doing this gambling thing since before it went mainstream/legal

Funny to hear the likes of Hunt/Moscona whoring themselves out tho.

It is a little annoying how much of sports media has just become gambling talk

Barstool has always had that element, but obviously once they were bought by Penn it’s jsut amped up so everyone gambles

This is nothing new. Moscona ends his daily show with “tonights picks from the Ott-Father, Jimmy Ott”. Then he advertises a sports betting website in the final seconds of the show. Jimmy Ott’s Show then begins and he advertises the sports book at Magnolia Bluffs.
Hanny also goes on and on about Magnolia Bluffs. They must have given him free buffet tickets or something.

It seems like there are quite a number of degenerate gamblers out there, so 104.5 may be on to something.

I rarely gamble, but I enjoy these discussions.

The breakdown of games from a gambling perspective is interesting, even for the non-gambler.

It takes into account weather, analytics, injuries, etc.

Not sure what you are complaining about. Maybe change the channel?

I totally agree. The long-shot preseason prop bets are fun, like if you put $100 on LSU to win the SECCG may the force continue to be with you lol.

But weekly CFB betting segments going around the horn are MLB stat spreadsheet level boring.

I enjoy playing fantasy but feel this way about fantasy segments for NFL as well… I would rather hear about the actual teams/stakes/sport.

Not a bunch of fake sports adjacent BS.

I'm thankful for podcasts so I don't ever have to listen to Ott. He is the worst. His shows have been for degenerate gamblers going back to the 1210 am days, if not longer. He can't talk about a single sporting event without framing the conversation entirely around betting lines.

Us old time New Orleans folks remember Buddy D doing 70's shows showing the weekend's Saints, LSU and Tulane highlites then following them with the first morning lines for next week's games.

Good point. Fantasy leagues are a type of gambling as well and I'm guessing it opened gambling up to people who hadn't gambled in other ways.

I have noticed the same thing in Mississippi…all sports talk is basically focused on gambling.

They ham up the betting segments too much for my take. I wish they would just breeze over it and get their money, instead they try to give their advertisers the greatest value ever. At the expense of my ears.
