I don't keep up with softball. So I asked for a back story? What don't you comprehend?

This is extremely random

Yes he's been involved with the national team for years and does a good job.

I don't think everyone hated him (some do) but a lot were frustrated for lack of adjustments during the season and that we had a few players with really poor mechanics.

I think hes a good coach. Would I call him the greatest hitting coach out there? Probably not, but he does a lot for this program between recruiting and development of hitters.

Sometimes teams just have off years for whatever reason, I expect us to be a lot better next season. I am sure there will be a lot of adjustments this off season.

His very first year (2012)

2012:
Team Avg: .220
Homeruns: 13
Doubles: 46

2013:
Team Avg: .285
Homeruns: 40
Doubles: 65

2014:
Team Avg: .314
Homeruns: 65
Doubles: 72

2015:
Team Avg: .335
Homeruns: 62
Doubles: 89

2016:
Team Avg: .316
Homeruns: 53
Doubles: 93

2017:
Team Avg: .289
Homeruns: 36
Doubles: 69

Zero doubt we have improved a lot and are much more potent on offense. I think this year was really rough after losing literally some of our best hitters in school history. We lost 31 homeruns, 38 doubles, 162 RBI's

Thats an insane amount to lose. I think we had way too much inexperience, too many players who were pressing and had low confidence at times. Jaquish essentially didn't bat the entire year because she was walked, the rest of the team were freshman and sophomores besides Landry. 3 True Freshmen and 2 true sophomores (One who had been on chemo treatments all offseason).

So the struggle looking at it all makes sense.

This was assumed to happen considering who he was and what he had already accomplished.
Not surprising at all. It's what he was paid to do and why he was hired.
Otherwise, he would not be coaching at LSU.

You could look at Conference Standings and they were 11 out of 14 in batting average last season. Or you could look at the downward trend. I think there more to the analytics that ware far more valuable than good old batting average. The ranking on the NCAA Division 1 suggests this team is about a top 30 ish team during the span you referenced. Is that good enough? It was to take them to so many WCWS.

The message is you get rid of employees that don't perform and rewarded those for doing above expectations. If you did your job and nothing above average, you got an average rating...

We will be back there eventually on offense. We had Springfield hit 10 homeruns and 7 doubles and was second on the team in RBIs at 41. She hit some of them against some pretty damn good pitchers.

Doyle hit 9 doubles and 4 homeruns and was phenomenal defensively. She came out HS with major knee surgeries so I expected somewhat a challenging season for her. Her issues are due to confidence. When she gets her confidence up and improve a little on pitch selection. She will put up major numbers similar to Jaquish. She was considered one of the best hitters out travel ball for a reason.

Andrews did damn good hitting about .340

Dawson did well too.

We got a lot of youth and a few have confidence issues but lsu will be much improved at some point next season. Simmons and Kloss weren't all stars as freshmen. It'll eventually click.

Not every player will put up major numbers their freshmen seasons. Plus we play in the SEC, it literally can't get any more brutal. If LSU was playing in the Big 12 we would put up way better numbers.

Why haven't I seen anywhere that Dawson is gone? Did I miss the thread where is was announced?

There hasn't been an official announcement but apparently she's heading to Baylor. She isn't on next years roster at all. Wish Dawson the best of luck at Baylor, Baylor should have a good team next year. Looks like they added a bunch of transfers this offseason

Here is next years roster, they still got to add Becca Schulte but other than that everything is accurate.

Good move for her if true. Was never going to get a shot to play here. Was completely wasted this year in favor of some really bad players. Good luck to Dawson.

I'm really surprised we didn't have more leave the program. I didn't expect Cunningham to be back. Hopefully Hoover's surgeries went well and she can come back healthy.

Notice Bourg on roster. Not sure how she can be eligible since she has already transferred once but hope she is. We are extremely thin up the middle.

What surgeries did Hoover have?

Lower body. Nothing in the shoulder or throwing arm. She struggled all year with issues and didn't address them until after the season. She is a warrior and fought through a lot of things many would have hung it up and waited until next year.

Hoover had a minor knee surgery and will be back training within the next two weeks so all is well.

I don't know the specifics of her injury, usually this stuff is kept hush hush but all I have heard is that its nothing to worry about. She is already doing physical exercise already.

I just gave an LSU recruiting update on the RB regarding 2021 prospect.

Its going to be an open competition between Caccamise and Cunningham all fall and spring. Pretty excited to see this.

I expect Goff and Antoine to both have a lot of open looks for RF. Kara Goff had a really good season this year. Half her hits were extra base hits too with an OBP of like .650 too. She was very under the radar so I am excited to see how she does her. A little fine tuning and she can be a very good hitter, she has a nice compact swing too.

Antoine is tearing it up this summer for Texas Glory as well.

Sanchez is still at LSU. She's been in the weight room almost every day since the season ended. Trying to get back in the shape she was in before before her treatments. She also assisted at the LSU camps this month.

Smith transferred back home to Minnesota. Playing time was something she wanted more of, a little bit difficult with two all american pitchers on the roster. We added a HS All American Pitcher who is coming in this fall so it would all be extremely tight next season.
