The offense is locked and loaded. Next year will likely take a small step back and the it's going to take a moonshot with some of the best skill position talent we've ever seen. The offensive line recruiting/development is as good as it has ever been.

If Kelly can make a good hire at DC better coaching and the portal can rectify the defense in a season or two, and then we are looking at a potentially epic run from '25 on.

Despite the deficiencies this season, I love where the program is headed. We're one hire away.

We lose virtually ALL of our production on offense. We have talent, but it's unproven talent. I'd pump the breaks there.

IF our defense doesn't DRAMATICALLY improve, we could have a really bad year. It's going to have to carry the offense some, which it did not do this year once.

Didnt BK say we were one year away this year?

He knew who the QB would be in 2024 and said we would be able to compete for a championship.

I think we are going to be in good shape next year, if we can get the Defense sorted out.

Football is turning into college baseball
There is a lot of turnover and you return key guys and form around them.

The line is back and will be better and that is huge. Nuss or a transfer who is better will likely have some growing pains. RB will be electric. Wr has serious talent and I expect a couple of high end experienced transfers.

There will be a step back, but recruiting on offense has been great and looks like it's getting even better in '24 and especially '25.

Four years ago we had arguably the greatest offense in college football history. To go that again in such a short period is crazy, especially when you think about the program ten years ago.

That’s not to say we should expect that as a norm, but I think we’ve proven it’s possible.

Exactly.

LSU football would be "close" if the exact same offense were coming back next season. It isn't. And it is absurd and unrealistic to expect next year's team to perform anywhere close to this level. So it is entirely possible (maybe likely) that LSU has a significantly better defense next season...and a worse overall record because the offense will now be in a position where it has to replace multiple key performers.

The more likely scenario is LSU takes a small step back next season with hopes of loading up for a potential championship run in 2025

One of us is. Wait till you see the OL and RBs LSU trots out next year. If you think Nuss and the passing game is going to suck with all offseason to come together you are mistaken. They won't pass for 4k but they'll get 3k and absolutely gash people with the running game.

If if if if if

Kelly would have had his long awaited National Title this year if it weren't for the 101st total defense and 119th 3rd down defensive efficiency.

Literally only 25% better with both numbers wins you the title this year

A good OL is better than a bad OL, but you don't win titles with OL. You need a really good QB and playmakers.

Your OL just needs to be above-average, like we saw in 2007 and 2019.

You also don't win titles by running the RB

Losing Daniels is going to force Denbrock to really upgrade our running game, too.

2019 and 2023 had returning QBs and playmakers at WR. 2024 has neither.

Nuss will actually be able to throw the ball though, and hopefully he can slong it accurately like Jayden did.

I don’t agree because last year we didn’t have this year’s offense and still finished 9-3, and our best win was better last year than this year. Even though our defense was better, yes, it still wasn’t as good as LSU is known for.

BK will not have a defense this bad again. He’s not stupid. You think he wanted to put in all this work fixing O’s screwups just to be held back by a sub 100th Swiss cheese defense?

No way our offense will be as good with JD leaving. Denbrock will have to redo our gameplan to fit Nuss. I think we may run a lot more than this years team. Doesn't mean we won't be successful but not near as dynamic.

What will be interesting to see is if these same fire House clowns will then be all over Denbrock calling for his head because we are not scoring 40 or 50 points a game.
