Did people honestly believe this team would magically turn it around instantly?

Wade is having to change a culture, mesh a team of many new players and coach out the bad things Jones taught the remaining player.

Basketball is a sport where it will take these guys some time to get used to each other and for the youngsters to get their feet wet.

The Michigan game showed their potential and the last two only proved they are a work in progress. Give them time and see
How things turn out once SEC play starts before throwing in the towel. Wade is a good coach.

Of course not, but I expected our defense to be at least marginally better than the historically bad defense of last year. And to this point it has not been, in fact it's been arguably worse. And again, I did not think that possible.

That is disappointing. I'm still a believer in WW and he was appropriately pissed about the defense as we were. But we keep hearing the tough talk with little or no improvement in the areas being emphasized. And with the schedule coming up it will be tough to tell if we really are improving as the competition is not really good enough to provide a real barometer.

Is it unreasonable to expect to see at least small signs of progress on defense? I don't think so.

My instinct is that eventually we'll start to see this, but to this point IMHO we have not and I don't think it being a bad fan to say so.

Don’t get these rantards bitching about the last 2 games. Should expect it as long as I’ve been on here but damn. JJ left this program a train wreck and some expect to make the sweet 16. Wade has already exceeded my expectations with just his roster management; anything positive that comes from the court this season is a bonus.

Anything complex usually takes time and patience. Learning a language takes time. Learning to play a piano takes dedication and time. Losing 50 pounds of fat doesn't occur overnight.

I have faith in coach Wade and he will get this program turned around. Billy Donovan had a record of 27-32 after his first two seasons at Florida. Great things require learning and patience. The kids are playing with effort. The results will manifest themselves soon.

He's been praching how the defense needs a lot of work constantly in interviews. These guys havent caught on yet but they will or will be replaced (next year). Defense is something he harps on. It's not like he's Johnny Jones.

Hey Johnny, did t we fire your sorry arse?
Losing Sampson hurt more than you could imagine.
Let any team lose their best defender who can guard 1’s, 2’s and small 3’s, then give you 12 and 5 rebounds a game.
They were playing better with him.obviusly not where they wanted.
Basketball is not like football when it comes to how much 1 person means to a team (outside of a qB.

Why? What was different? Upperclassman leadership on defense. Versatility. WTH can’t you people see?

All I know is that the effort, enthusiasm, and flashes of greatness I saw from individuals during the Michigan game made me want to watch LSU basketball consistently again. That in itself is a huge improvement over the last few years. It's like me as a new director taking over my department. If my leadership ability was judged by the first 3 or 4 productivity reports where the majority of my employees were leftovers from the last director and without time to build my own team, then its a shite way to judge. Let things play out for Christs sake. I swear some people are expecting a sweet 16 this season

Oh, this must be your first time on the Rant. Welcome. Folks here can’t wait for baseball season as well so they can start screaming to fire Manieri.

I have been 100% behind the WW hire, but I'll tell you right now he is allowing some of the worse sandlot shots I've ever seen. I am also saddened by the fact we didn't full court press when we were down, but still in the game(s). Maybe his personnel don't fit the mold of a pressing team, but we're going to be behind a lot of games, & he will have plenty of chances to implement a press when down, if not all of the games. Here's hoping we show the ability to turn over teams before they set up their half court offense. With our lack of height we will be abused down low. Still w/our coach 100% , just hope the basics improve.

The idiot who thought we would win the SEC just because we barely beat an average Michigan team. On the flip side, these idiots saying Wade sucks and nothing is different than Jones’ teams are morons too. Our best player by far is a true freshman. Jones did Wade no favors with the roster. As a matter of fact, Wade had to put together most of this roster in a few short months. It takes time to gel a new roster, change the existing culture, etc. Plus the 2 losses happened without one of its better players. I think it showed a lot when they went down by double digits to Marquette that they battled back.

Few have had more patience than me with LSU hoops I can assure you of that. I think one can still be disappointed in the now while having hope for the future.

And I'll certainly not GTFO, I've stuck it out this long I'm in it for the long haul. And I'm hopeful for the future. something I was not ever under CJJ.

Absolutely not but I can see a huge attitude change already. We're just use to no defense and being lost on offense and making high school passes. Wade will fix this in given time.

I doubt if many here thought LSU would make a deep run in the March tournament, but basketball, far more than football or baseball, is a sport that can be turned around rather quickly.

I'm fine with making negligible but appreciable strides this year.

Hey a-hole I have a lot more patience than you will ever have. But you can't bullshite me on basketball , because I played the sport. I wish I had a chance to play some poker with you, and then we could compare our patiences. As I stated, I'm still 1000% with the WW hire . You can kiss my arse.

The fact we beat michigan in itself says alot. We were very bad last year and lost our best player off that very bad team. We beat michigan and the very next day have to play a very good notre dame team with little preperation and then sampson goes down first thing. Was a recipe for disaster that game. We will be much improved this season and next year will be better. Year 3 we should be competing for sec titles and runs in the ncaa tourny. If waters comes back next year then we will be really good next year possibly.

We need help on the interior and some of these guys are still learning how to guard and the fine lines of playing team defense.ND and Marquette screened them to high hell.

Need to iron out the offense during the next couple cupcake games. Got very stagnant post-Michigan and went away from some of that off ball movement that we saw work early.
