Did not playing the McNeese game hurt our bowl position?

Unranked UT gets the Outback bowl at 8-4.
Unranked UGA gets the former Gator bowl at 9-3 with no coach.
#19 UF loses to us and gets the Citrus bowl at 10-3.
Yet we are in the Texas Bowl.
Ultimately Id take the texas bowl over the Taxslayer bowl. It loses all the history and prestige when they take away the gator name, but the other two are obviously better. Personally I am far more likely to go to it over ANY of the above due to proximaty, but what gives?
Is it the fact that we have "one less win" than the others? Is it that Alleva has no backbone when it comes to bowl negotiations? Is it the SEC screwing us again?
How does this happen, year in year out we go to a bowl that doesnt fit what was earned comparatively?
Ultimately these crap bowls dont matter, its just frustrating to see us routinely get the screw job.

No, losing to a less talented Arkansas/Ole Miss team sure did.

I don't think so. I think it hurt LF7 more for post-season awards, though.

How is that in any way relevant to comparing the above resumes.
Those hurt our ability to get a NY6/playoff spot.
We win one of those were in the Sugar.
This is in regards to us being below unranked teams who have bad losses on their resumes just like we do.

no getting your arse handed to you by ole piss ark and ala hurt your bowl position

Texas bowl's payout is greater than Gator

won the East, is ranked higher, more wins

Yes this is the question though. If we were sitting 9-3 coming off a win vs TAMU wouldnt we be more attractive than UF who has lost 2 straight, the last win in OT vs a 2-9 FAU team and an offense even worse than ours? Especially vs UM with the history with Miles?
BTW thanks for actually examining the question. This wasnt a thread to cont. to bitch about Miles or moan about our losses. All those horses have been beat to death.

Screwed? Really?
We got destroyed in 3 of our last 4 games, and looked terrible again offensively in our win over A&M.
Personally I couldn't care less what bowl we go to now. The season ended very badly and I'm emotionally done. I'm afraid the players might be also.

When you look at the evidence we have been under placed per comparing resumes every year since 2011.

quote:No, our incredibly whiny and bitchy "fanbase" hurt our bowl position. None of the Florida bowls would touch us because absolutely nobody would likely travel. To them, we're toxic.
No, that dumbass Miles is what hurt our bowl position
Texas Bowl, on the other hand, is in Houston, where there's a large LSU alumni base. We'll probably have a solid turnout there, just from the locals.

Maybe because we never win our bowl games, the SEC tried to match us up against a weak team in a game we may actually have a chance to win?
Maybe they didn't feel we could beat Michigan or Florida State and are trying to spare our fanbase further embarrassment?
(I know this isn't the real reason, but maybe we should prove we can win a bowl game before crying about not being invited to a prestigious one. Win this one convincingly and take that momentum into next year. With a good showing in 2016, we'll have a much stronger case for the postseason.
Losing 3 of 4 by double digits doesn't give us much room to complain.)

Yes, it probably did. It also cost Fournette the Heisman. He'd have been over 2000 yards.

Unfortunately, yes. LSU continues year after year to get hosed when it comes to bowl selection. You would hope whoever makes these calls would factor in us getting passed over such as year in peach where we were told "don't worry, you'll get priority next time as well as W over McNeese this year to be 9-3. Unfortunately nobody in authority at LSU has the balls or clout to call this to attention.

No we finished like crap and think the bowls are aware that LSU fans have had it and aren't buying tickets.
Posted on 12/6/15 at 4:04 pm to Scoob
yea our fan base has everything to do with where we go in a bowl game good lord the miles backers getting desperate

What makes you think ole miss isn't more talented than than lsu???? 38-17 sure made me think they do.

quote:Yes, you genius, they want to fill seats in the stadium. It's historically the reason LSU is popular (fans travel well), but also the reason we don't get picked to go some places (we didn't travel well to that particular bowl). There are some programs known to travel better than others, and if all other things are equal, bowls want the better travelling team. It looks better on TV and leads to a better atmosphere.
yea our fan base has everything to do with where we go in a bowl game
In this case, it's pretty obvious that our fans aren't going to shell out and go somewhere, because they're miserably unhappy. However, a game in Houston would actually be even more convenient than one in BR for a lot of our alumni, so it's got a lot better chance to fill seats.

No, getting our asses kicked by Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Alabama did.

UGA is going to the Taxslayer in Jacksonville, despite getting their asses kicked by Alabama 38-10, Florida 27-3, losing a close one to Tennessee, and firing their head coach.
Texas Bowl is made for LSU, A&M and Arkansas. Nobody from the East would travel well.
