All depends on the physicality of practice. The offense runs 30-50 plays per game, so that amounts to 120-200 plays per week of practice. Doesn't scream overkill to me.

Supposedly they ran 80 play practices.. Don't know what percentage was first vs second team reps but that's a boatload and had to take it's toll. Why in the world would anyone make their teams that leg weary?
Football players aren't supposed to play 4 or 5 games each week.

The olinemen falling out with CRAPS and such was a pretty good indicator.

This could definitely be a problem!!

I think this can be explained by Miles' old school philosophy, and is a good example of how the game has passed him by.

We know so much more about performance and the human body now. Gone are the days of just beating players down to make them "stronger". During the season you want to train and practice with high intensity, but less frequent and for shorter durations.

It's periodization 101.

I don't know how this was never talked about before his firing. Seems very archaic. This is probably one of the reasons he closed practices. He knew he would get grilled.

How does an LSU practice compare with that of other SEC teams?

how in God's name are we consistently screwing up plays, failing to get to the line in time, etc?
Confusion and delays getting the plays from the coaching staff. Presumably Cam would call a play then Les would interject and a clusterfrick ensues.

Hi Tommy,

If Jimbo becomes HC, how fast will you be packing your bags? Will Jimbo then sue you for slander?
