Catcher took offense to his "pace" around the bases. Nothing too much IMO, just the reaction after your pitching getting owned the entire series.

I doubt it. Deichmann went around the bases pretty quickly.

It wasn't about rounding the bases. It is about admiring it and he admitted it. The ump gave him shite as well. It's classless and if I'm that catcher I don't give a shite if we are down 35, I'm still sticking up for my guy. Damn guys this isn't hard. To those that didn't in my era 35 years ago, go back and watch some of the older games.

It's really not that classless. Had he done a spin and the splits while exiting the box then maybe you'd have a point. Taking a couple of extra seconds to admire a 450 ft homerun is not classless. Getting your feathers ruffled over such a trivial act is pathetic.

He hit a ball 450 feet into the wind. He can look at it for a second or two longer

It boils down to the fact that the catcher was tired of getting his arse kicked all weekend and that was his tipping point. Nothing more.

And that's fine. He didn't tackle Deichman. He had a few words. Big deal. Bunch of vaginas in this thread.

"Pimp his homerun"? Are you a 13 year old with white sunglasses and a flat bill hat?

Can't believe nobody is talking about Freemans shot to the back. That one was clear as day. Bring in a new pitcher to start the inning...throw one pitch right into Freemans back...remove pitcher. They didn't even try to hide that one.

Nobody cares what you convince yourself you would have done 35 years ago.

Baseball is the last of the major sports where outward showboating is frowned upon and the players more or less monitor it themselves. It's another one of those things that make baseball different. I for one approve.

The NFL and NBA are clown shows.

That said, I'm not at all sure if Greg Deichmann did anything so egregious that a reprimand was warranted.

Love the we didn't showboat back in my day myth. Reggie Jackson practically invented the bat flip 40+ years ago.

No one is implying showboating began in 2017. It is a sport where showing up the other team could earn you one in the ribs during your next at bat.
